Semi-useful, but nothing new,
By
This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
If you've read at least one networking book, you most likely will find little, if anything, useful from this one. I must admit there are some helpful hints such as: 1) Avoid the Lone Ranger mentality, 2) Give without expecting anything in return, 3) Gain value from every contact, 4) Become an active and perceptive listener, & 5) The 3 Foot Rule.
These(like most of the 59 "secrets") present a somewhat hackneyed approach to networking. Although worth a look-see, I would recommend a check out from the library for this title, rather than wasting your mula.

Not a head-trip, a people trip!,

This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
The Power Networking book has traveled with me (along with my professional association's phone book) all over the world. Why? Networking is neither rocket science nor a head-trip, it's all about attitude, good habits, and heart. Donna Fisher delivers all in her books and her workshops. The second edition offers savvy ways to connect with people in this new information age.

The Power of Networking,
This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
I bought this book eight years ago when I started my business and it remains one of the best resources I have. The updated version is even better, including the new era of technology. What I loved most about this book is the focus on building relationships and dropping the "Lone Ranger Mentality." The book stresses that networking is a way to help others, develop relationships and build our own businesses. But it does stress giving before asking. The concept is the more we give, the more we will get. I have found this to be true. I am thankful I found this book when I did, it has made a big difference in my career. Rachelle

Excellent book for developing and maintaining a network,

This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
The aptly titled "Power Networking" provides in-depth and practical ideas for creating and maintaining a network of personal and professional contacts. As a Personal and Executive Coach, many of my clients are looking to increase their businesses, and this book walks you through steps to do just this. One of the most gratifying things about this book is that the authors focus not only on how Power Networking can benefit you the reader, but how it can also benefit the people in your network and the world at large. In short, this book can help the most shy conversation-avoiders to the most outgoing network-seekers.

False reviews,

This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
To answer one reviewers question: I've see these "5 star" reviewers in every networking title sold (see all of their reviews listed). Has Rick Frishman ever reviewed a networking book he didn't rave about? Better still, has he ever read any of the books he reviews? These "reviewers" have written their own networking books and are hawking each other's books, deceiving potential buyers. I guess this is their form of networking. A potential book buyer should disregard what they say.

Easy to Use Effective Networking Techniques,
By Susan Campbell "Susan Campbell" (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
After exploring many networking sources, Power Networking was the book I used to premise a training I created for my company which was a complete hit! This book is a must read if you want to be successful in your business and personal life without coming across like a sales person. The concepts and techniques presented in this book coupled with the "practical" actions and activities after each chapter allowed the associates in our company to put their new skills into effect immediately and start seeing results. If you don't like the "selling" part of your job, yet want to develop referrals and contacts this is the book for you! If you want and need things in your personal life but just not sure how to access this, this is also the book for you. After reading this book I was not only able to create a dynamite training program for our company, but more importantly on a personal level, I was able to use some networking skills honed in this book to help the orphange my daughter came from and bring some relief to to many adoptive parents.

Great Way to Learn the Basics,
This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
As I talk to more and more people, it becomes obvious that most of them have a vague idea of what networking is, but really no idea how to get started or how to be effective. This book gives a great starting place. The assessment allows the reader to take a hard look at where they are now and then using the steps, to make a plan for improving their life and career. I would highly recommend this for people who want to get started on improving their networking skills.

What the are those reviews talking abt? ( bk for simpletons),

This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
This book is the most useless , non substantive peace of literature on social networking I've ever read. First of all it reads like a children's book with bold large fonts, and only gives a paragraph full of advice each chapter. The advice wouldn't be different from what your mother would say. The authors clearly extended this to make it seem longer, and more substantive. Truly a super disappointment. The reviews on top make me question who really wrote those.

This review is from: Power Networking: 59 Secrets for Personal & Professional Success (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for business professionals as both a primer on networking as well as a refresher course in those practice which we get "out of practice" doing. Highly recommended to sales managers and salespeople as a training reference on how to get the most our of your day to day business contacts.
