Editorial Reviews

Review

This is a truly wonderful book. I mean, just look at it! It contains an easily manageable five-step plan to recovery, it's just over one hundred pages long and you can read it in under an hour...When I first read this book I felt such a tremendous sense of relief and joy. I wasn't mad. I wasn't imagining it. I was definitely not a drama queen. I wasn't alone and my disorder was treatable without medication... -- Gary McDonald, Australian actor

5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding,experience and authority, January 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
Power Over Panic is written with the authority of great experience in treating anxiety disorders AND with the compassion and understanding of someone who's been there. She has. This was the first book I found that talked "to" me and not just "about" me,as I went through the most bewildering and frightening experience of my life. Bronwyn Fox is also one of the few writers who has a great depth of knowledge of dissociation (feelings of unreality, feeling out of body)that so often continue to frighten the anxious person.

If you need to be reassured before buying her book check out The Panic and Anxiety Hub on the web and read about her workshops and simple (but not easy)methods of recovery. I'm making real progress with Power Over Panic and I highly recommend it as a stand alone book or in conjuction with professional treatment or other self help methods (Dr. Claire Weekes is another good one!).Thank You Bronwyn Fox!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazingly simple approach!, April 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
I have read at least 10 books on panic and anxiety, completed an at-home study program, and undergone cognitive behavioral therapy in an effort to overcome my disorder. I cannot begin to tell you what a difference Power Over Panic has made in my recovery! I made more progress in three months using Bronwyn's method, than with all the other books and methods combined! Her approach is so simple, you almost doubt it can work. But it does! Of course, you still have to do the work, and recovery is not always smooth sailing, but it is well worth the effort! Freedom, here I come!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ANSWER TO THE PUZZLE!, October 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
I wish I could give this book 1000 stars. .... The power of meditation is outlined as the main key to recovery - along with cognitive behavioural therapy and a understanding of disocciation. A new concept: dissociation is discussed as a sometimes quick trance like state causing derealisation/depersonalisation and occuring before the actual panic attack - often triggering panic attacks. This is mainly a drug free approach...My special thank you goes to Bronwyn Fox for helping me more than she will ever know by writing this book.
