Understanding,experience and authority,
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
Power Over Panic is written with the authority of great experience in treating anxiety disorders AND with the compassion and understanding of someone who's been there. She has. This was the first book I found that talked "to" me and not just "about" me,as I went through the most bewildering and frightening experience of my life. Bronwyn Fox is also one of the few writers who has a great depth of knowledge of dissociation (feelings of unreality, feeling out of body)that so often continue to frighten the anxious person. If you need to be reassured before buying her book check out The Panic and Anxiety Hub on the web and read about her workshops and simple (but not easy)methods of recovery. I'm making real progress with Power Over Panic and I highly recommend it as a stand alone book or in conjuction with professional treatment or other self help methods (Dr. Claire Weekes is another good one!).Thank You Bronwyn Fox!

An amazingly simple approach!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
I have read at least 10 books on panic and anxiety, completed an at-home study program, and undergone cognitive behavioral therapy in an effort to overcome my disorder. I cannot begin to tell you what a difference Power Over Panic has made in my recovery! I made more progress in three months using Bronwyn's method, than with all the other books and methods combined! Her approach is so simple, you almost doubt it can work. But it does! Of course, you still have to do the work, and recovery is not always smooth sailing, but it is well worth the effort! Freedom, here I come!

THE ANSWER TO THE PUZZLE!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
I wish I could give this book 1000 stars. .... The power of meditation is outlined as the main key to recovery - along with cognitive behavioural therapy and a understanding of disocciation. A new concept: dissociation is discussed as a sometimes quick trance like state causing derealisation/depersonalisation and occuring before the actual panic attack - often triggering panic attacks. This is mainly a drug free approach...My special thank you goes to Bronwyn Fox for helping me more than she will ever know by writing this book.

The best book on Panic/Anxiety,
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
I have purchased many books on panic and anxiety for agoraphobia and this book is by far the best. If your going to purchase a book on these disorders I cannot advise you strongly enough to purchase this one book. It has insight into panic and anxiety unlike any of the other books on the same subject. It has the very latest findings on panic and anxiety and has compassion for those with these disorders.

A fesh approach,
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
I have read many books concerning anxiety and panic but this one is truly a fresh and remarkable approach to healing. It has been enormously helpful and has taught me many new things, particularly the approach to meditation and a new way of looking at this frightening disorder. I strongly recommend anyone who suffers with anxiety/panic/depression to order this book immidiately. I can now say that I see the light at the end of the tunnel and I have Bronwyn Fox's brilliant book to thank for it!

Overpriced and low on content,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
This is a very brief book(let) on panic disorder. It presents some basic facts and recommends the practice of meditation, which is good advice. The content is good but sparse. The book is skimpy on details and way overpriced.

At last!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
After suffering for over 20 years from panic disorder I came upon this blessed book through the HUB site for anxiety disorders. In this book you will only find expert condensed information, nothing superfluous. It is the 'bible' of anxiety and panic sufferers as it offers specific information on how to deal with anxiety and panic and show you the path to recovery via mindfullness, meditation and Cognitive behaviour therapy. It teaches you how to loose your fear of fear, how to give an end to the "what if's",how to observe your worst nightmares in a detached yet self loving manner. It talks about the importance of self esteem in anxiety disorders, about self acceptance, about reconsiliation with fear. It illustrates the points made with examples from real people in real life and most importantly of all it is written by someone who has 'been there' herself! For me this book has done more than years and years of psychotherapy...In only 6 months I feel I am in control of my self again when last summer I was falling apart from repeated panic attacks, anxiety and depression.

A new, life changing perspective on our condition,
By Anxious (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
One out of every ten people in the modern world, regardless of age, gender, nationality, education, or socioeconomic background, suffers from some type of anxiety or panic disorder. I'm one of them. And I know what a struggle living with this condition is. But no more. With a straight-to-the-point language, tons of knowledge that comes from personal experience, thorough explanations of symptoms and causes, and above all, the compassion that can only come form an "ex-sufferer", Bronwyn Fox displays with words the road to not just recovery, but "total" recovery. And the most wonderful effect that this book has on you is that, after reading it, it leaves you with the feeling that, although you thought for a good period of your life that you would never recover, recovery is actually rather simple, and that your illness is not such a big deal after all. It really isn't, you just have the wrong points of view and the wrong approaches to certain thoughts, that's all. This book will teach you how to change those views, and after that happens, you'll be free once again. For the price, it beats the heck out of paying $150 for an hour with a therapist who cannot relate to what you're going through, and above all, doesn't really care what you're going through.

Easy read, informative, positive and interesting,
This review is from: Power Over Panic: Freedom From Panic/Anxiety Related Disorders (Paperback)
I have a 16 year old daughter who suffers from panic disorder. I read this book first and then passed it on to her. It is a simple read that took a few hours to get through.
It explains subject matter in an easy to understand format. It is also a very positive read and should give the reader hope and some understanding. |
