Book Description

July 1, 2008 Kimani Romance (Book 99)

Mary was a little lamb...

Mary Reyland was fed up with being taken for granted, and ready to step on a few toes--while wearing a pair of sexy black fishnets to her next client meeting....

Till she discovered her inner vixen!

Edmund Davis enjoyed being in charge. That's why he chose to work with "mousy" Mary. But when a sultry, confident Mary strode into his office, he wasn't sure how to handle the challenge. And apparently the new and improved Mary wasn't going to settle for anything less than she deserved, in business or pleasure....

More About the Author

Dara Girard is an award-winning author of novels that feature strong heroines, family dramas and romance. Her writing has been praised for its deft plot twists, witty dialogue and humor. Dara was born in the American Midwest to immigrant parents who moved around the country, before settling in Maryland. Dara's love of writing was evident at a very early age ' and supported by her close-knit family. After earning her undergraduate degree in communications, Dara held a variety of jobs and did some freelance writing. She was forced out of the corporate world when her last job was made redundant and that's when she decided to write full-time. Luckily this risk paid off and she received a two-book contract that same year. In July 2008, Power Play, was released. This is the first in her miniseries The Black Stockings Society about four women, one club and a secret that will make their fantasies come true. Dara is also the author of an award-winning non-fiction book for writers, The Writer Behind the Words (Ilori Press, 2007).

5.0 out of 5 stars I liked this story, October 12, 2010
This review is from: Power Play (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I Purchased the first part of The Black Stocking Society and thought it was horrible so I didn't expect much, if anything, from this one but it seems that Ms. Girard found her footing with the story of Mary and Edmund. I liked watching Mary and Edmund grow together as well as individuals. I feel like their love was true and fresh. From their meeting to Mary's submissive/passive Trying-to-grow-into-a-big-girl personality to Edmunds domineering I-get-what-I-want take-no-prisoners personality; everything was blended together to make the perfect little underdog urban romance.

Can't wait to read Body Chemistry!

I initally gave this story four stars but upgraded it to five because reading this made up for the first book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kris, February 10, 2011
This review is from: Power Play (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed the book...sweet romance NO HEAT! It is considered a series but the stories really have nothing to do with each other. I have read 3/4 books and they all stand alone.
