Worthless book - these 5 star reviews are suspicious,
By Andy Warhol (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
I have never, repeat never, posted a bad review for anything on Amazon but I'll make a special exception for this so-called book.
Firstly, to save yourself the time and trouble of buying it, here's the one line summary...it takes 21 days to set up a new habit so, to create a new habit, do it for 21 days. Got it? That's it. Was that really such a revelation? The author doesn't even try to deal with the situations where you don't want to do something every day...for example, he talks about setting up a habit of weighing yourself once a week...so how do we set up a habit like that then...weigh ourselves daily for 21 days, but once a week?! Secondly, the author has then padded out the rest of this book with filler articles that you could find in magazines or from the internet. Thirdly, and most annoyingly, it seems very doubtful that the rave reviews here are genuine. Read the one-star reviews carefully and trust your gut instinct on who is being honest about this book.

WARNING!!,
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
This book is solely making it from the false reviews/ advertisments from other books. Click on 'See all my reviews' from these following people, and you'll notice a common aspect:
serene thomas Ren "Ren" I'm sure there are more names, but they advertise the same message on nearly every other health/image book. also, isn't it curious that many on the 5-starers have only written one review?? Look at the April 17-20, Jan 25-27 crowd... hmmm a little suspicious... especially since they occur in 2-3 day BLOCKS! This book should be banned due to the author's wangling! I'd advise you to read all the 1-star comments.

Someone is at it again,

This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
I'm re-alerting people to what "Warning" reviewer on october 14 wrote. Look at the October 20th reviews. Looks fishy. Most of them have only one review and that's of this book. Why the sudden flurry of reviews on that day? Gee...I think it's because it's the same person. Amazon should remove those reviews.
There are also reviews from "serene thomas" in 90 other nonrelated book reviews from on the Amazon site which is how I ended up at this book. And all 90 were submitted on october 20th. It's like spam on Amazon! Grrrrrr!!!

Rehash,
By trekgiant (West Orange, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
There's nothing new here but a rehash of what most people already know. No insight or usable hints. The author makes reference to his website to download forms but they are not there. Just a site to promote his book and tapes and CD's. Even my e-mail went unanswered.

The Power of Positive Habits,
By Rebecca Farr (St. Augustine, Florida USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
This is the most awesome book I have ever read. You don't have to read a chapter or a lengthy article to get to the point of it. I went from a computer addict to a positive person within a week. I used to sleep until 9 am each day due to being up on the computer half the night. I started applying positive habits and now i am up at 4:30, 5:00, 6:00 a.m., out the door to 30 minute exercise, then a 30 minute walk and back home by 7:00 a.m. and do anywhere from 1 to three hours work in the yard before it gets too unbearably hot. I have a prison ministry and I have seen a remarkable positive attitude in the women in the jail from reading the book at our meetings. I would recommend everyone buy this book and give it as christmas or birthday presents.

This book changed my Life !!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
Imagine what would your life be like if you could put it on autopilot? Imagine being able to lose weight automatically, to improve your health automatically. That is exactly what this book shows you how to do. I found it to be an extremely simple program to help you change your lifestyle and that is the key to permanent weight loss and better health. Ask yourself this simple question...when is the last time you made a conscious decision to add a new habit to your life? If you are like me, the answer is never. I don't know about you,but I always thought that habits are bad, so why would I want more! The author goes on to explain that habits are extremely powerful vehicles for positive, personal growth. Why are positive habits such a powerful force? Think about it, habits are both permanent and automatic. If you want to change your life, you have to change the way you live it, and your habits hold the key to doing that. With the help of this book, I am now reaching my weight loss goals, and success and health goals automatically. The program is very simple, you decide where you want to go in life (your destinations) and then you select the positive habits that will take you there. If you want a trim and fit body you simply begin acquiring new positive habits that have weight loss and fat loss as their benefits. If you want to lower your cholesterol, just look up the habits that have "lower cholesterol" as a benefit. It couldn't be easier. The book is filled with over 80 well researched medical and scientific habits on diet and nutrition, weight loss, fat loss, increased energy, lower cholesterol, healthy heart, success

Some grandmotherly advice - but not all it pretends to be,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
For starters, this book is very short. The text is creatively spaced and contains a lot of bullets and lists. ... There's not enough backbone to the material for the price. Second, the book amounts to nothing more than grandmotherly advice - some of which might not be good. Robey does not fully justify his claims and at times his use of language is flippant. In general his English is poor and his prose are boring. The book contains so many quotes by other authors - that it left me wondering why someone wouldn't just read the works of those other authors and skip Robey all together (which is what I recommend). Save your money for something more professional.

what?,
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
I don't understand the reviews for this book. It's nothing but a bunch of common sense that you can find ANYWHERE! What's the deal with the price being so high? I sold mine because, hey, I could use the $40+ dollars people are shelling out for it. Just my opinion, save your money.

Very disappointing, no new ideas,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Power of Positive Habits (Paperback)
After reading the stream of raving reviews on here, I ordered a copy of this book and was excited at the prospect of reading it. However, I was personally left very disappointed. The habits discussed aren't new and many are patronisingly commonsense. If you read consumer health and lifestyle magazines, then they'll be strikingly similar. Most only get a page of coverage at the most, many have less, and there's lost of blank white spaces instead. What worries me most is that he claims that by simply making these basic changes in their lives people's bodies will be on 'auto-pilot' and all their problems will be solved/they'll live happily ever after/solve all health ailments etc. Yes, I agree that habits are crucially important and that turning negative habits into positive ones is recommended, but I feel the claims are too drastic and it won't solve everyone's problems. This could have been a great book, but for me it certainly isn't. Dan's done a good job of mish-mashing together a multitude of other theories and ideas that have been doing the rounds for years. If you want new, fresh material that's truly inspirational, you won't find it here.
