5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a teen, and this book is very helpful.
So far, this is the most helpful book on prayer that I've read. There's many books on prayer that are very lengthly and have lots of theology. But this book is especially meant for teens about my age (13-19). I suggest this book to any Christian teen who wants to have a good prayer life and who really wants to have an intimate relationship with Jesus. The book covers...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was hoping for
To be honest, I didn't read the book - I skimmed through, but enough to find that there aren't really any stories that give examples of teens who have prayed, and made a big difference because of it. The content that I saw was good and solid, but in my experience as a youth pastor, I see something with real-life stories as a lot more effective with teens.

The book covers pretty much everything you, as a teen, will need to pray about. For teens that just became a Christian, don't sweat it! This book is definitely for you, as well as for the teen that has been a Christian for a long time. It reviews all the types of things one should pray about to break the strongholds of the enemy so that God can work in your life and in your school and in your family too. I would suggest this book for the mature and for the immature. The strong and the weak. And for every teenage Christian that loves God. Here's a brief overview of the chapters since there isn't yet an excerpt for amazon.com:

1 Lord, help me know you better
2 Lord, help me get free of past mistakes
3 Lord, help me forgive others
4 Lord, help me do what's right
5 Lord, help me stand strong againts bad influences
6 Lord, help me take control of my mind
7 Lord, help me understand your word
8 Lord, help me be free from peer pressure
9 Lord, help me have good relationships
10 Lord, help me praise you at all times
11 Lord, help me find your purpose in my life
12 Lord, help me make wise choices
13 Lord, help me get rid of bad emotions
14 Lord, help me resist temptation
15 Lord, help me be strong when bad things happen
16 Lord, help me be safe
17 Lord, help me speak with words that speak life
18 Lord, help me have faith for the impossible
19 Lord, help me know your will for my life
20 Lord, help me move into the future you have for me

Every teenager seriously must pray for these things. All of these things apply to you, and in this book, will help you. I can't stress enough how important prayer is for your relationship with God. I know you'll enjoy this book and God Bless!

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerful teen book, January 5, 2007

I brought this book for my son during the middle of the year, like most teens he threw it aside, because readinging for school and his bible seem enough for him. Later on he picked it up and to my surprise began to read and share a lot of the contents of the book with his friends. He has been difficult since his dad left. This book deals with real life issues for him and appears easy enough for him to continue reading. He has not finished, but he pours over the pages with him bible next to him. I am in awe of the amount of time spent back and forth from the book to his bible. I think teens kids will get more they bargain for when they read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!, January 2, 2006
This review is from: The Power of a Praying® Teen (Paperback)
Prayer is something that really lacks in a teen's life from my experience. This book shows that it is a neccessity in life. It also shows that any problems with may deal with that God can be there to help you through it all. All you need is the connection with him through prayer. I recommend you buying this for your kid, or buying this for yourself.

We purchased a few of these books after having bought one for our sons to read. Every time they read a chapter we asked them to share with us the parents what they had learnt from it. When they had finished reading the entire book we realised how much the book had changed our sons temperament. Therefore we decided to purchase a few more of the books to be used as study material for the youths in our church.

5.0 out of 5 stars Age appropriate and inspiring, April 2, 2009

I have read several of Stormie's books for women and adults, and knew that her selection for teens would be great to share with my mentees. I wasn't disappointed. This book is very appropriate for teens 13-17 and covers topics necessary for young believers. The book has much spiritual meat for teens; it doesn't just gloss over subjects but digs deep and confronts your current thinking while inspiring you to move closer to God by doing his Word and through prayer.

The chapters are just 5-7 pages, giving opportunities to practically apply the Word Stormie shares in increments. The topic mirror those in her other books on prayer, so I recognized the concepts immediately. I think this speaks volumes to the integrity of the topics covered--what is appropriate for adults and their walk with God is essential, practical, and do-able for teens.

Stormie's approach isn't cheesy or corny and is currently being well received by my mentees who are 16 from an urban area. I cannot recommend this highly enough for parents, older siblings, or mentors to pass along and read with their teens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!, April 11, 2011

I'm the mom of a teenaged daughter. I bought this book for her because she's asked a lot of questions. I started reading it as well, and it's a very comforting book! My daughter loves it too. I recommend it for both teenagers AND adults. Amazon lets you take a peek inside the book before you buy, so take advantage of that! What you read is what you get--the rest of the book will NOT let you down. I highly recommend it.
