A worthwhile addition to your library...,

This review is from: The Power to Prevail: Turning Your Adversities into Advantages (Hardcover)
Let's face it, Christians have somewhat of a reputation of being goody two shoes ethereal nerds with an easy life provided by fairy god angels. Nothing could be further from the truth. David Foster busts that myth wide open. From both the Old and New Testaments, he brings forth examples to prove that God's chosen people are going to have it tough. That is intimidating, but he also shows that by our attitude to these difficulties, roadblocks can become mountains to conquer. Wasting no words, he makes clear and concise points regarding depression, regrets, rejection, burnout, etc.*** Fans of Philip Yancey or Alan L. McGinnis will find this to be a worthwhile addition to their library. Maybe reading this will not make the load you have been entrusted with lighter, but it will help build the muscles to carry it. *** Reviewed by Amanda Killgore.

This review is from: The Power to Prevail: Turning Your Adversities into Advantages (Hardcover)
"The Power To Prevail" by David Foster is a good read for anyone needing a positive challenge to their attitude towards life.
Gibson deals with several topics, some of which are: 1. Grief 2. Jealousy 3. Fear 4. Anxiety 5. Stress 6. Risk and Reward 7. Pain 8. Failure 9. Burnout 10. Regret There are a total of 14 topics. The author addresses each topic, how it can negatively affect you, and proposes a positive biblical solution for overcoming the obstacle. The solutions seem to be very solid and biblical and he challenges the reader to let God work in his or her situation. Read, enjoy, and be challenged and encouraged. Recommended.

I borrowed this book from my parents bookshelves...but I won't be giving it back.
What I thought would be a "good" book with maybe a couple of hints has turned into an incredible learning journey for me. David Foster intertwines his persuasive writing with poignant stories, Bible verses, quotes, and love. He combines sports anecdotes with stories of love and loss. This book has been a literary coach for me...one of the few books I have found that goes beyond, "life is hard" to "how to deal with life being hard." Thank you David Foster!
