If you have ever tried electrical trouble-shooting using a straight pin to pierce small wires you can really appreciate this tool. The only drawback that I saw, and so many others have pointed out, is this probe's female receptacle for connecting it to your meter. I thought the price being asked for the companion connector was excessive, and after finding nothing in my test lead collection that fit it, I made my own. I chose a common wire splice that looked about the right size then by stripped off it's plastic insulation. The metal part of the splice fits into the probe tightly and sticks out far enough to connect to my meter's alligator clip. Problem solved!

This is a great tool to check wires for any purpose, current,or continuity. The long end makes it easier to grab wires that are in difficult spots to get your hand on and the screw turn makes for a positive connection every time. The only complaint is the the end that you connect to your meter needs an adapter that is more than the probe after shipping. Why couldn't they just made it a female end?

I wanted to be able to pierce the insulation of automotive wires for test purposes. These probes do a good job of piercing the insulation but the connections at the other end are hard to use since they seem to be for special cables for a specific DMM. They are better than nothing.

I bought this to diagnose and repair my mass air flow sensor and it worked perfectly. Allows me to tap into the wire and monitor voltage without disconnecting.

It's really nice to be able to test sensors on my vehicle without having to hold the test lead. It doesn't ruin the insulation on the wire either. A must have!

It will work, but it is not the best of tools. I wrongfully assumed that the probe end of my existing multimeter cables would plug into this. Not so. You could, however, plug this directly into the multimeter with no cable in between, which is almost useless. Thankfully, I had some extra probes for my meter and sacrificed one to solder the the cable to this piercing probe.

From there, it is a screw tight mechanism, meaning you latch the hook end over the wire you want to probe, and then you spin the back end of this, (which I soldered to a wire/meter connector) to tighten it and pierce the targeted wire. Not a big deal, but the whole process just felt a bit too much like a harbor freight affair. It's as cheap as it gets, so I got what I paid for. Not awesome, not bad. It's just okay.

This little tool is exactly what I needed to test the wiring on my BWD EGR valve sensor on my 97 Ford Taurus Wagon LX. There was no way I would have been able to get into the tight space where the wire harness was situated. I used it the very same day it arrived and I discovered the sensor was defective. So, by me NOT having to take my car to the mechanic and me testing the sensor myself this little probe paid for itself. : )
