The POWER Process is not a grammar book containing sentence diagrams and other standard fare. Neither is it a list of invention techniques or a series of writing assignments. What this book contains is the essence of what makes every successful writer successful. A workbook which uses dynamic new NLP techniques, The POWER Process guides the reader confidently through a writing project. It aids every kind of writing: literary fiction, poetry, letters and business correspondence will all benefit from this book. Offering strategies that overcome writing problems, it presents simple (but not over-simplified) models that will essentially enhance and transform the written product. For those wanting to perfect their writing process, this is a significant and approachable guide.

1.0 out of 5 stars An agonizing-to-read book on how to write?, December 18, 2003
This review is from: The Power Process: An NLP Approach to Writing (Paperback)
I was SO much hoping that a book on WRITING with NLP would be well written. And actually, the glossary-like Preface on Suppositions of NLP gives a very good summary. But these writers are going to help us become ENGAGING writers when they present concepts and strategies in such a tedious, unmotivating manner?

Oh well, having paid for the book I struggled through to find a few good suggestions for writers block, etc - but they were nothing that any good writer-motivational volume doesn't have.

Another annoyance: the description seemed to promise that the authors had done a systematic study of methods of Master Writers... I was hoping for something like the descriptions of how Grinder & Bandler studied Master Therapists in developing NLP. No such luck.

Now I look back at the "Editorial Reviews" above: there is a glowing one from Dr. Michael Hall. Have you ever tried to read one of HIS books? Oh well, I guess as long as Crown House can keep churning out "NLP Master Practitioners" and "NLP Trainers" to write positive reviews that their publishing house prints, optimists like me we periodically throw money at one.

If you buy this book, do so in the spirit of helping a starving publisher; if you buy it with the hope of enhancing your writing, you shall be very frustrated and disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bored to Tears!, August 21, 2009
This review is from: The Power Process: An NLP Approach to Writing (Paperback)
I cannot believe I bought this book. I was thrilled with the chance of learning the secrets to UNLOCKING my inner gifts and becoming a better writer but I just found that it took such a major effort on my part to get through it. I liked the description. It motivated me to buy but, this book did not deliver.

I understand the power of neuro-linguistics especially, in marketing but I will look elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Characteristics of Writing, January 19, 2003

W. E. Grissom "Bill" (Oregon United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Power Process: An NLP Approach to Writing (Paperback)
This book is fantastic. It gives you the structure and then all you have to do is fill in the content. Think it sounds easier then it probably is? If you know what you want to write about and the effect you want to have on your audience, this is going to help you get it.
