I am a Reiki Master/Teacher and I include this publication in my Reiki I classes. Everyone loves it. I recommend it as a text book along with what ever other material you use in your classes.

I am a Reiki practitioner in the US. I would recommend this text to any person interested in the basic concepts of energy medicine and complementary medicine. The author gives very understandable and tangible explanations of many abstract concepts associated with this holistic modality. It is a great introduction to Reiki.

This book is one of the most interesting I've read. It's an excellent source of information and exercises for Reiki beginners. It might look as a coloring book already colored because of all the illustrations and beautiful pictures it has, but they relax you and help you to understand the Reiki "hands-on healing" technique. If you know nothing about Reiki, this is an excellent book to start with.

Consider this book an introduction to Reiki, explaining clearly what Reiki is and what it does. Also consider it your extra training Manual for when you've been attuned. This book, more than others, will give you the idea of the loving healing flow that Reiki really is, and is one of the very best, most accurate and most informative books on the subject that you will buy. Very well done from concept to finish. Highly recommended by Reiki healers and master teachers. Buy this one first, and other Reiki books later.

Once you have been attuned and need further guidence, this book can be a wonderful resource and support. Very easily understood by all. Explains the energy transfers and levels with great clarity.

I received my first attunement, and then bought the book. WOW! It's visually appealing with awesome pictures and photo's. With loads of information on practical uses of Reiki... I rushed home and Reiki'd the dogs, the plants and the gold fish because of this book. Each time you turn the page you're drawn into a place of enchantment... Definately a "must have" for anyone interested in Reiki... A good book, with a good vibe....

This is the best Reiki Book ever. I am a master and use it in my training of others. It has wonderful illustrations and is written in a way that is easy to follow and understand. Very informational for a new Reiki practitioner or just someone interested in learning more about Reiki. Most books do not cover the Chakras as well as this one does.

I've used this book as required reading for my Reiki I (beginning) students for the last 3 years or so. Beautifully written, illustrated and well grounded, this is one of the few Reiki books that are readable by beginner, dosn't "go off the deep end" or have an axe to grind. It offers an excellent introduction to the metaphysical (non-physical) side of us all, and serves as a competent reference book for the first year or two of those just starting out, but wishing to delve into deeper and more advanced metaphysical understandings of themselves and healing at all levels, physical, mental and spiritual. I recommend it without reservation.

Tanmaya Honervogt's book is just perfect. She invites the reader into the heart of Reiki by sharing: 1) Her path with Reiki 2) The Meaning of Reiki 3) The History of Reiki 4) The Reiki Degrees 5) The Reiki Treatments 6) Reiki in Daily Life 7) On Healing & Illness and 8) Reiki Reports [experiences.]

There is so much color used throughout, some of the pages are in color as well as beautiful photography of nature scenes including: a tiered waterfall, a forest of trees covered in snow, the ocean at dusk, golden tree leaves in the bliss of autumn, wispy clouds with a touch of sunset pink, a powerful wave of the ocean rising high and curving over shooting out white bubbles of delight and various flower photos of different colors and types and many more exceptional photographs. There are even some abstract photographs that are equally as breathtaking in their own right. Also included are many helpful photos of real people giving and receiving Reiki (ray-key) and excellent coverage of what each position works on physically and mentally which is lacking in most books. I find this particularly interesting as I am about to enter nursing school to fulfill my calling of over 10 years of God "tapping me on the shoulder" to become a nurse!

A favorite part includes "Harmonizing Chakras" and "Grounding" of which the latter I have never read about in another Reiki book to date and the former best covered of all I've read so far. Other useful, helpful topics I enjoyed include: "Reiki Emotional Problems," "Uses for Reiki," and "The Reiki Healing Box." There are many inspiring and exciting quotes throughout of givers and receivers of Reiki, including some testimonials in the last chapter. The entire book is a glory and blessing to the reader. It will make you smile.

I particularly enjoyed this version of the history of Reiki and that Dr. Usui was a Christian who was asked by his students if he believed in the miracles of Christ and whether he was able to demonstrate such a healing. This question spoke to his heart and set him off on a quest to study the healing methods of Christ. While in a Buddhist monastery he embarked on a 21-day meditation and fast on a holy mountain near Kyoto. And it tells his experience and his journey with Reiki. [I love the fact that Dr. Usui was a Christian because I am too and have prayed for permission from God to do Reiki and have been answered with a yes. Since it is my personal belief being a Christian that the Universal Life Force aka Reiki IS the Holy Spirit, why wouldn't God allow me to use it to touch/help/speed healing of others? This is why I am wanting to be a nurse in the first place as well as to serve Him and to show others His love and healing through prayer and Reiki!]

I encourage you to get attuned either locally or more affordably and I believe equally powerful or more so, through the dvds sold here at amazon by Reiki Master, Steve Murray. Shanti. This book was one of the motivating factors for me to get attuned though it can be read before or after attunement.

This book is exactly what it is supposed to be: an excellent Reiki I manual written by a Reiki master-teacher who truly understands the nature of Reiki. I too am a Reiki master-teacher and own many books on Reiki. This is the best one for the newly initiated Reiki I student. I use it as my Reiki I manual. It correctly teaches the healing techniques, the compassionate attitude and the centeredness which the student is seeking in his/her practice of Reiki. The book's only drawback is that it repeats the old ficticious Reiki history attributed to Mrs. Takata. This book was being published before the research by Frank Petter was published. I teach the carefully investigated history found in "Reiki Fire" by Frank Petter, which I also highly recommend.
