4.0 out of 5 stars Luv the name "powersquid!"
Great product so far for my office. Much easier to use than power strip. I affixed it to the wall next to my computer: it's off the floor and within reach. 'Gave it 4 stars to alert you to the size: it is not a discreet piece of equipment, if that is important to you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gets the Job Done, But MASSIVE
I really like the idea of a PowerSquid, that is not wasting outlets on a surge protector with large adapters covering two slots, but this particular model is MUCH bigger than you think it would be. Heed the note in the product description that notes this is a "ShopLogic" product -- it belongs in the garage or basement workshop. The product does work as advertised... it's...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for those large brick power adapters, March 4, 2008

This review is from: Power Sentry S10056800103/17 ShopLogic Power Squid Surge Protector (Black/Yellow) (Electronics)
I've used a few of these for a couple of years now and am very pleased. The rating is not as high as it could be, but I use it for the things on my beside table that are all low voltage. This includes my cell phone, mp3 player, pocket pc, phone, lamp, and other similar items.

No, it's not small and not really pretty (it is a surge protector after all, not an accessory item for your living room). However, I don't lose one or two plug-ins due to a large brick style plug either like I did with the standard power strip/surge protector. I keep it under the table and out of the way. I will say that it has a rather bright light which is squelched by virtue of being under the table.

Previously, I used the power liberator plugs to eliminate the issue but I really like this instead. Amazon's price is excellent as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best power strip I own, January 3, 2007

I have a very nice computer, very nice speakers, and other various peripherals on my desk. To power them, I'm using the Powersquid with surge protection. There's no way I would leave this unprotected, especially since the apartment I'm in has a spotty electrical system that has blown countless lightbulbs for no reason. Secondly, the squid shaped outlets let me plug in transformer box after transformer box with no worries of blocking other outlets. I have two other Powersquids for non-essential electronic devices, I just had to get the surge protection for my 'pute.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Useful Powerstrip, February 7, 2008

I have 2 of these.

Pros:
-The main problem with conventional power strips is that once you start plugging those power adapters that come with your gadgets, one of those alone can take up 2 to 3 outlets in shear space. With these, you can plug up to 5 individual adapters. If that is your case, then this is very useful to you.
-You can buy it in pure all-white (if that is what you prefer) if you shop around.
-the main cord (not shown) that you attached to the wall is quite long which allows you more flexibility in reach.

Cons:
-You may think first that it is unique, strange and even a conversational piece, but after that and having given it a second look, it does not look as pleasing as you would like it to be. Particularly if you have 5 power adapters attached to it. It is also huge.
-540 joules of protection is not that much as compared to other similar products.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS THING!!!!!, September 5, 2007

My friends at the dorms recommended the Powersquid to me and it's the best thing that's ever happened to my home office. Not only does it save me the trouble of finding different ways to arrange a bunch of bulky plugs into 3 different power strips, it's much nicer to look at too. I just wish that it was like a real squid with 8 "tentacles" instead of 5 - I have that many things to plug in! But that just encouraged me to buy more Powersquids. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars The PowerSquid is the bomb!, April 21, 2008

Can a power strip be sexy?

The PowerSquid is one of those inventions that works well and looks cool to boot. The idea of solving the wall wart problem seems so simple, and yet why did it take this long for something like this to come out at an affordable price?

The design coup for this item though is outer covering for its inner workings.

The designers could have housed all of the wires and breakers and connections in a black box, but this unit has these sexy curves that look and feel right. When you hang the item on the wall, cords flowing down, it looks like a squid - GENIUS!

I like it because it looks good, it does its job and its afordable. Very Cool!

Be careful if you intend to put this to any 'limited outdoor use' as the box indicates would be appropriate -- the product protection guarantee excludes lightning and 'accidents'. This is a great concept and a well-built piece of equipment. I have owned a (non-suppressor model) PowerSquid for 5+ years now without a hitch. I just think that if you really care about hard-core protection, you might want to look at a Belkin or some other model that has more robust surge suppression -- it almost seems like in producing this model, the suppression was added to the older PowerSquid model as an afterthought, rather than it being built around a solid protective design. UPDATE: I wanted to add that I did research and found that the similarly-priced Belkin surge suppressors DO cover damage caused by lightning -- in fact, their guarantees are more or less entirely inclusive, quite the opposite of the PowerSquid's.

This review is from: Power Sentry S10056800103/17 ShopLogic Power Squid Surge Protector (Black/Yellow) (Electronics)
I love this product...I have 3 in my house. It is great to get the plugs away from the wall when the outlet is in an inconvenient spot and great for lots of bulky power chargers! Also it has a surge suppressor...make sure to get the one with it, they also sell them without it.
