5.0 out of 5 stars Power of the Sixth Sense
I found the book Power of the Sixth Sense to be a very well written work on a little known part of self defense. The information most people study on the physical side of defense is important, but is made vastly more effective by adding the ideas laid out in this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars An Amalgam of Trivia
The way this British book was described on Amazon led me to believe that it filled a unique void by connecting physical ninjutsu skills to more esoteric psychic abilities. However, the book quickly turned out to be a major disappointment in that its contents are of the most superficial nature. The writer probably knows less than the average reader about the topics he...

5.0 out of 5 stars Harmonizing Mind, Body, & Spirit in Self-Defense, March 5, 2008
This review is from: Power of the Sixth Sense: How to Keep Safe in a Hostile World (Paperback)
This book has much to offer the person who must survive in a world that is increasingly hostile, angry, and threatening. In effect, the book is about protecting oneself from terrorists of one kind or another - whether street hoodlums, members of an organized terrorists group, or simply self-serving co-workers or neighbors who verbally attack out of envy, greed, whatever. It is primarily about mental self-defense.

"By unlocking your sixth sense, you can become your own bodyguard and personal adviser," author Jock Brocas writes. "You will listen to yourself before you do anything, and your mind and body will give you the answer or show you how to protect yourself. Listening to your intuition will save your life."

Brocas draws upon many years in the security business. "I have looked into the mouth of the dragon (death) on three occasions, and each time my strength and belief in Budo has brought me back from that barren wasteland and mouth of eternal destruction," he states. What Brocas is advocating is the awareness and focus of the old Japanese samurai, or of the martial artist of today - a way of harmonizing mind, body, and spirit to overcome fears and thwart the aggressor. He explores everything from surviving the emotional abuse of a spouse to attacks by organized terrorists. He offers many helpful tips on everything from protecting your home against burglars to protecting your aura, or personal energy field, from invasion by negative forces.

"Living with your sixth sense allows you to detect subtle imbalances in field of energy," Brocas offers. "Everything exists as energy, even if perceived as a solid form. By attuning your self to this frequency, you will be able to identify, perceive and anticipated problems that may manifest in life, from street-level violence to international incidents by terrorists."

It is unfortunate that a book of this kind has become necessary, but the reality is that if we want to endure and survive in an in an increasingly spiritually-challenged world, we must strive to become more spiritual.

The emphasis in this book is mostly on personal protection through common-sense caution and trust in your intuition; hunches; gut feelings.

He frequently encourages us to take psychic signals seriously, and relates some of his experiences in this area.

There are many valuable suggestions and reminders of things we can and should do to protect ourselves by both physical and psychic means -- although a few of his suggestions are not likely to be practiced by most people,e.g., spending at least 20 minutes inspecting your car every single time before getting into it.

He touches on the simple basics of clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, claircognizance,

the fifth and sixth dimensions (which are "...the levels of spirit beyond the physical senses."), remote perception, lucid dreaming, dream-state precognition, auras, telepathy, psychometry,

psychokinesis, meditation,etc.

The info in this book may be too basically simple for some advanced readers of these topics, but

I enjoyed the read.

I consider 3 stars to be a 'good' rating; and 4 stars to be a 'very good' rating.

A book would have to be 'exceptional' to get 5 stars from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential book in today's society, July 25, 2008
This review is from: Power of the Sixth Sense: How to Keep Safe in a Hostile World (Paperback)
Ever had the hair stand on the back of your neck. Ever felt an uncomfortable feeling somewhere gave you, not knowing why? Ever wonder what people mean when they say "trust your gut"? This is a must read! It could open your eyes to the little things that protect you and those you care about.

It is an extremely well written book. Jock explains the abilities that we all have, it is just a matter of being sensitive enough to be in tune with it. I have been looking for a book like it for years! He even gives you exercises to improve your ability. It is an amazing book and I highly recommended it! It can open your eyes and change your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading..., May 6, 2008
This review is from: Power of the Sixth Sense: How to Keep Safe in a Hostile World (Paperback)
Jock has written an essential book for those who find themselves in some of the world's most dangerous places. Prior to reading Jock's book I had an inclination as to the power of the mind in alerting one's self to danger, but I'd yet to harness or truly understand that power. I've spent an extended amount of time in a particular war zone, occasionally alone or with a very small group of trusted people. I'm absolutely sure that it was that "sixth sense" that kept me alive and unscathed throughout those adventures. Over time and through experience I intuitively learned to trust my instincts, and they've never let me down.

When I came across Jock's book, I was blown away to find that someone had actually studied and mastered this mental phenomena. Upon reading the book I discovered validation of things I'd thought with respect to one's sixth sense, but could hardly express myself. Simply put, he's taken me to the next level. Now that I have a deeper understanding and trust of my senses, I feel far more confident in making what can amount to critical decisions affecting myself and the lives of others.

Lastly, I have to say that although Jock's teachings definitely apply on the ground in some obviously scary places, they equally apply to life in your average big city anywhere in the world. Stay alert, develop and trust your senses, listen to Jock, and you'll be good to go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powers of the Sixth Sense by Jock Brocas, May 4, 2008
This review is from: Power of the Sixth Sense: How to Keep Safe in a Hostile World (Paperback)
Hi Jock,

I just finished the book Powers of the Sixth Sense. I rarely ever watch the news because of the fried brain syndrome from negative information. Therefore reading the Powers of the Sixth Sense gave me so many insightful and simple to do things to protect my personal space and reinforcing my intuition skills.

Everything was kinda scarey to realize that these things do happen.

However, I am looking into transferring this into a communication for

my grand children to understand.

Something very interesting happened after reading this book and raising my self awareness of what is out there. I no longer see things as just coincidental and ask for better understanding of my feelings.

Choosing to walk in JOY and continued protection from Gods Gift of that Gut feeling. My intuition of always going forward in 100% pure love and light with the highest good for all. I really was thanking the Holy Spirit for the Sheild of Grace. Thank you Jock and may our God continue to Bless all of us!

Christina

5.0 out of 5 stars Read it and learn, March 19, 2008
This review is from: Power of the Sixth Sense: How to Keep Safe in a Hostile World (Paperback)
This is a must read for anyone interested in psychic ability for practical uses. Surprisingly blended with the aspects of security and safety the book is immensely practical with information for every gender and age. I found the aspects of Kidnapping slightly disturbing and not something that i wanted to concentrate on si i skipped that - yet the book has much more to offer and missing one element did not mean that i could not gain from the book. This should be read by everyone that wants to remain safe in this lifetime.

"POWERS OF THE SIXTH SENSE"

Author: Jock Brocas

Review by:

Dr. John C. Enger, (Police Lt., Ret.)

Hanshi - 10th Dan

I have heard it said "A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with an argument". Jock Brocas, a man with many life experiences which have been intricately weaved with his gift of "The Sixth Sense" shares with the reader what every person can do to protect themselves in this dangerous and often times violent world we find ourselves living in by using the latent "Powers" that lie resident within every human being.

Jock Brocas has done more than just write a book, he has mapped out a personal safety plan for all by using sound principles used in the security industry. As a former law enforcement officer, private investigator, juvenile corrections officer and security consultant, I know sound safety and security principles and Jock Brocas has done a superb job covering the bases without a lot of fluff found in so many text books on the subject.

So what makes this work so unique? Jock Brocas has brilliantly and convincingly connected his background as an "intuitive" and "martial artist" to one of the most important subjects facing individuals today - "HOW TO REMAIN SAFE IN A HOSTILE WORLD". To those reading this review, I can personally attest to the experiences shared by Jock Brocas as I too have had many similar events take place throughout my life where I "sensed" and/or "visualized" danger prior to that event taking place and because I believed in what I sensed and/or saw at the time it kept me alive. I have been asked how I know - my response has been this, "I know in my knower"! Whether one calls it the Spirit of God, intuition, a feeling, instinct, vision, psychic ability, or an auditory event, there is absolutely no doubt it exists.

Jock Brocas devotes a chapter in his book titled "YOUR BODYGUARD: THE MIND". In truth, this is where it all takes place! The true battleground is played out in this arena where fear is our greatest enemy. Jock makes what one may take as a very simple statement, but often missed in numerous manuals on self-protection -- it is this ..... "The first lesson to learn is that security is a state of mind." I wholeheartedly agree with his assessment! If you fail to grasp this first simple and fundamental lesson you will quickly find yourself a victim.

By combining what may be defined as one's sixth sense along with personal safety and security issues I believe Jock Brocas has taken more than just a step forward in this ground breaking work, he has made a major leap in thought on how we may all protect ourselves, loved ones and mankind if willing to train our sixth sense. Superbly written from the heart of a true warrior!

5.0 out of 5 stars How you learn to be aware of things that can not be seen, November 6, 2008
By
Kabuto "Kabuto" (Stockholm, Sweden) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Power of the Sixth Sense: How to Keep Safe in a Hostile World (Paperback)
There is many books about self defence out on the market, most of these books deals only with physical techniques. How to defend against a punch, kick, knife or any kind of weapon. How to use ordinary things as a weapon, keys, pens, hairspray etc. Gauge the keys into the opponents eyes, kick him in the groin and run like hell kind of books. This is what we call the Tiger aspect of self defence that only deals with things that can be seen.

What most books don't even scratch the surface of is the Dragon aspect of self defence, the things that can not be seen, things that can not be touched and even understood. Responding to someone's intentions, listening to your inner self that try to protect you. Both aspects was well known to the warriors in the old, very few self defence classes deals with both aspects today.

Most Martial Arts instructors tells you that the best self defence is not to fight at all, but few really understand what this _really_ means. This book is one of the very few that explains with examples how the author used his "sixth sense" for self defence that saved his and other people's lives. It also gives many practical self defence lessons of what you can do to prepare yourself before anything happens. But the core essence is to awaken your inner guide or voice that will warn you in good time before you need to resort to violence. When you read this book with an open mind the seed has been planted, it is up to you what you do with it. I highly recommend this book to all my students.
