I initially bought this unit to replace a smaller electric “Snow Shovel” that I’ve had for a number of years. The planned use was for clearing decks. This year’s New England Winter provided more than sufficient opportunity to review the unit’s performance under varying conditions. So far I’ve used the unit more than a dozen times and it’s performed well above expectation. The unit can easily handle snow depths greater than 15", but you just need to remember to push slower in deep or heavily compacted snow. With dry snow, the unit easily threw the snow more than 50 feet and moved wet snow the 30' advertized on the product literature. The unit also had no issues with chunks of ice, broken icicles, discharging them well beyond that for the snow. The rubber tipped auger worked perfectly on the Trex decking, never leaving a mark and removed all but a dusting of snow from the deck. Beyond the deck, the unit worked great on lawn surfaces in a dog run, 25 by 40 feet, and a stone patio. I also tried the unit on my drive way, comparison against my 15 hp Simplicity gas powered snow blower and it worked great, as far as the extension cord allowed. The only other advantage of the Simplicity is that the auger is designed to cut through frozen and really hard packed snow, but I never anticipated that this unit was designed to accomplish this task. Overall, I’d rates this a great piece of equipment and I’d definitely would recommend this item.

Pros:
● Light weight
● Quiet
● Powerful

Cons:
● Needs an electric cord, but you know this when you buy the unit so that’s not an issue.

Other reviewers have pointed out the limitations of this snow blower, including the none-too-secure electrical connection and the less-than-impressive throwing distance. Still, a knotted cord solves the first problem, and judicious plowing can solve the second -- as long as you're plowing a relatively narrow driveway (say, 10') or path. Under such circumstances, this blower performs very well, even in situations that would pose a challenge to any blower. I'm writing this after plowing three driveways (my own, my elderly neighbor's, and my son's) in the aftermath of a huge winter storm that dumped about 9" of snow in our central Virginia neighborhood. The unit cleared off the driveway in short order. As other reviewers have noted, the trick is to not be too greedy when you're taking a cut with the blower -- I was content to mow back and forth, taking off maybe 6" at a time. Also, you'll need to do some shoveling in places where the depth exceeds the blower's intake -- especially at the foot of the driveway, where passing snowplows leave mountainous piles. This blower suits my needs very well in an area that will likely experience only two or three heavy snowfalls per year... were I living in Soldier Summit, Utah, I'd go for gas.

Pros:
o Very light, and would be easy to lift onto a deck or other raised area
o Works fine with up to several inches of light powder
o Electric motor means no struggle to start it

Cons:
o When you push hard, the up-bent handle causes a bending moment on the upper joint, which ruins it,
and you DO have to push hard at times, in slushy or icy drifts.
I installed a 28 inch long piece of 1 1/4 inch, outside diameter, plastic tubing over each side of the handle
by cutting a 5/8 inch slot down the full length, then forcing it over the handle with channel-lock pliers.
The existing bolts can be used to hold them on, but you need to knock the nuts out of the plastic wing-nuts
because the bolts aren't long enough to reach through the tubing and up into the wing-nuts
o In slushy snow, it only throws the snow a couple feet, and plugs up every couple of minutes
o It requires a 20 amp circuit. With my original 15 amp circuit, I spent as much time resetting the breaker as working
o The electric cord is a nuisance. I have an electric trimmer, a hedge trimmer, and tree branch trimmer/chain saw
I also have a gas powered trimmer and chain saw, and usually use the electric version when near the house.
However, because you need to go back and forth with a snow blower, the electric cord gets in the way a lot.

Was the BEST thing I bought my Husband for Xmas! He loves it and now my sister-in-law wants one for her husband! Really a great product! Saves my husbands back and works just like you expect it to! Nice clean side walk and walkway! We needed only a small one no driveway. Etc. works like a charm!

My girlfriend bought this snow thrower and I thought it would be a waste of money since its electric and I usually don't like buying big items like unless I try them.

After using it though, I must say its is very handy and breaks up and throws the snow/ice very well. The only downside I have is that the electric plug is a big annoying as it comes out somewhat often. I wish there was some sort of socket holder. Overall functionality its very good but the socket is the only reason I took off a star from the review.

I call it Mighty Mite - it's just so easy for me to handle as it only weights 38#. Great machine for the price. I am 63 and 5' tall and live in upstate NY - this was absolutely the perfect machine for me.
