Alexandria (Ali) Brown compiled these stories, starting with her own story of how she built a million-dollar home-based business. I have met Ali Brown, a leader in Internet marketing success--and one of the first women to do so. She knows what she is talking about! Ali is the "Ezine Queen" and amazing self-promoter who went from start-up to this amazing success in eight short years.

So many of the other entrepreneurs struggled to find their place in the world--sometimes both personally and professionally. They have so much to teach us with their personal story and how they learned their own secret to success.

If you need to be inspired, this book will do it. Uniquely, most of the stories are by women business owners.

The book is divided into four parts: 1. Power Strategies for Business Success (12 stories) 2. Turning Your Dreams into Reality (10 stories) 3. Success from the Soul (11 stories) 4. From Surviving to Thriving (10 stories)

While each section has significant first-person stories, I found Success from the Soul most interesting. Without really believing in ourselves, we cannot have success in business. Each writer had to overcome incredible obstacles, including divorce, poverty, betrayal, illness and accidents.

My copy of the book has many stories tabbed, with a note to "share with Grace/Barb/Mary." And of course, many of their points hit home with me.

Again, there is really `nothing real new' in these stories-but the way these successful people tell them will make you feel renewed and energized by their message. "If they can do it...maybe so can I," you might think.

Many of these people left demanding big corporate jobs with big salaries. They usually bailed to save their life because of the stress, demands, long hours and extensive travel. Most had the desire to do what they love and work when and where they wanted to.

They remind us that it might take five years to become an overnight success, and often we see the results but not the hard work that went with it. I gleaned an important tidbit in almost every story

This book is jam-packed with inspirational stories for people who may not (yet) have the courage to step up and start living their dreams. I highly recommend it if you are looking for real life examples of people who overcame challenges in their personal and business life to achieve outstanding success. Each story offers something of value for the reader to take away and motivate them to 'reach for their own stars'.

We all have the power to do amazing things with our life but sometimes we let our own limiting beliefs stand in our way and sabotage our success-even when we know what we are meant to be doing. To have the courage to share our unique gifts can be a highly challenging prospect at times; albeit one that reaps great personal rewards. These candid stories can inject the reader with momentum and enthusiasm to start taking action today and change the results that they are currently getting in their own life.

I really enjoyed Power and Soul because it reinforces how important just one decision can be in changing the course of our destiny. That's all it takes, just one choice to do something differently, and the consequences can have a profound impact on our future. Read this book if you want to feel empowered and uplifted.

If you are looking for a break from intense books on how to market, strategize, etc., etc. when it comes to business, then this is the read for you.

Great way to re-connect with why you went into business for yourself. Offers reassurance that many successful people were once in the start-up position with the same fears!

I like the set up of short independent chapters. I would read a chapter or two before bed each night. The new ideas would get me excited about getting up the next morning.

Not all stories hit home with me, but the ones that did were great.
