I have tested this on a number of standard sized bars all of which have slightly different diameters, including bars that are threaded, and the Lock Jaw works on all of them.
They are faster and easier to put on and take off than the traditional threaded and spring clamp collars- definitely well worth the price for anyone serious about getting an efficient workout done.

I recently purchased these clamps and they are great! i tried them on a number of bars and it worked on all of them . these are much easier and effient to put on and use . if you are trying to get your workout done in a small amount of time these will do the job .
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SPRING CLIPS . THEY ARE COMPLETELY USELESS THESE ARE THE BEST THING YOU CAN BUY FOR YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WELL WORTH IT!

These are much nicer than the spring grips. They work for both grooved and smooth olympic bars, and do not bother people with carpal tunnel syndrome. Highly recommended.

Not much to say other than they work as advertised. My dumbbells are the threaded kind and in the middle of certain p90x workouts its a pain to always be unscrewing the other collars. This makes the switch much faster. Just remember if you're using these for dumbbells, order two pairs! In my infinite wisdom I only ordered one when I needed these for two dumbbell sets. My second pair is on the way.

Fiddly at first, but way faster than spin-locks and easier than spring-clips,

At first I thought that these might not fit my standard barbells. Then I opened and closed them a few times, making sure to open them up fully. They then just fit over the ends of both my smooth and threaded standard barbells, and locked securely. Very much a timesaver in the home gym, especially if you do a lot of barbell work.
Docked a star because they are a bit pricey for what they are - a set of plastic clips lined with rubber gripping pads. However, they do seem sturdy, and I'm expecting to get years of life out of them. I bought one set for the bar I use for squats and presses, as this bar gets the most plate changes during a workout. Probably not worthwhile to invest in a set for my deadlifting bar, which usually stays loaded at all times, and only gets weight added to it once per week or so.

Buyer beware do not buy this if you are intending to use on an olympic bar they are for traditional only. The description is wrong.

Worth every cent. At first I thought they were expensive for what they are, but they made the hugest difference in my work out. Quality, good grip, can even use them one-handed: I'd recommend them for sure.

A man should only fall off a bench one time before making arrangements. I have a standard, smooth (i.e. not rifled), 1-inch diameter bar. Plates fall off of them if you aren't careful. Trust me on this.
Unclamp, insert onto bar (flush against plate), clamp. The clamp basically constricts a rubber contact surface around the bar. Fast to put on, fast to take off. It's really can't-miss.

Incorrect product description!,

Edit: 10-17-11, it appears they've corrected the product description, so my warning below no longer applies. From Amazon product description for this item: "The Lock-Jaw Collar ... clamps down on Olympic bars" From the Wikipedia article on barbells: "A men's Olympic bar is a metal bar that is ... 1.9685" in diameter" Written on the package Amazon sent me today: "Fits all standard 1" bars" So I walk to my weight room and sure enough, these do not fit my Olympic bar. They do fit my 1" barbells, but I already have clamps for those. Looks like I'll be going another week or so without being able to safely do squats.
