Simply the best resource I've purchased this year, my first as a teacher-librarian. Just buy it. Only downfall: the MLA formatting rules are from the 2004 edition, not the updated edition. So? Simply update what you need to when you go to her MLA pages, or use Diana Hacker's Online site for resource documentation. Valenza covers every base in what we do and can do. Get a copy, save your brain the drain, and power up your library program. Book is modestly priced for all you receive.

I purchased Power Tools as a required text for a grad course. When this first arrived I griped about paying so much for something that wasn't even bound. After using it however I have been very pleased. There is an enormous amount of useful tools in here for the everyday SLMS. I especially like it as someone just starting out from scratch. The accompanying CD is great for editing and personalizing forms. Definitely worth buying
