A little deceptive,
By
This review is from: Power Trainer Elite Multi-Function Bar with Bonus P90X Workout DVD (Sports)
The claim:
"You don't need tools or fasteners for installation nor will you damage the doorframe." "There are no screws and no damage to door." The reality: You don't see this in the ads or product description, but the Power Trainer Elite is installed in the door frame using two mounting brackets. The brackets are installed with a total of eight woodscrews. The brackets are supposed to be screwed into studs, but some door frames don't have studs where the brackets need to be installed. The Bonus P90X Workout DVD is actually an advertisement to buy the P90X workout system. The Power Trainer itself seems to be well made and should ultimately work for me.

BIG reason i bought this item was so that i dont have to instill any sort of mounting bracket to my door but you need to do to use this item ... total SCAM... better off buying the AS SEEN ON TV version my friend picked one up from wallmart for a cheaper price and better quality and at least that one doesn't lie about the mount brackets

We were also surprised to open the box and find the mounting hardware. After looking around online we decided to put it together and mount it without the hardware. It works just fine. Hubby fully intends to monitor the door frame but it doesn't HAVE to use the hardware. Gave it 4 stars because we haven't had it long enough to be sure of more but the few initial pull-ups and push-ups have gone well. I'll let you know if we break anything!

It came with mounting pieces and directions, which I wasn't expecting. But it still works even without being mounted, no problem. It makes it easy to take down after my work out. The p90x DVD isn't a work out -- it's an advertisement to buy the whole workout... not what I was expecting. The cushion things were very difficult to get onto the bar, and the bar overall is kind of wobbly and honestly makes me a little uneasy when using, but it hasn't broken or damaged my door or wall yet, so I can't complain. Going to get my money's worth, but I would recommend paying a little more for a better quality pull up bar, for sure.

I'm a fan of the P90 routine and wanted to augment it with something I could quickly do as a morning routine. Everything arrived on time, but the order was not complete. If I could have assembled it, I would have at least tried it out. The bolts and washers to assemble the kit were missing. All that was there were the brackets and wood screws for mounting it. As others have noted, the DVD was useless and the quality of materials was lacking. I sent it back for the above reasons. I'm choosing another chin up bar now.

It does all it claims to do. Putting it together was easy and the only tricky part is sliding on the foam pieces. We were impressed by how sturdy it is and have been using it mostly for pushups and tricep exercises. Haven't not put in the door/wall mounts for pullups yet. Got it for a great price of about $35 or so, but definitely worth buying even if $40!
