I recommend this book. I consider it an introduction to a most sacred and powerfull name; an introduction because the name itself has so much significance it is impossible to dedicate a single volume to explain it's infinite potential.
The first few chapters detail the history, general meaning and correspondences of the lost name of God. Later on it shows some very interesting relations between the name and various hebrew ceremonies, symbols and magickal objects. The divination system based on Urim and Thummim is very practical yet, in my experience, it requires the user to be quite intuitive and to be familiar with hebrew symbolism. Tyson goes on detailing rituals to asume a god-form, work with angelic beings and create a set of magickal rings. He also points out some greater meaning between the name and Dr. Dee's angelic magick. The correspondences and procedures are quite clear, but I wouldn't recommend the rituals to any other than an advanced practitioner because, if followed in a careless manner, the work may give either no results or cause negative effects. I only give this book 4 stars instead of 5 because the author frequently talks about his own personal philosophy on magick, which is fine, but it jumps out all of a sudden from an objective study to a subjective view. Also, it seems to me that it starts out as a very basic introduction and ends up being a very advanced piece of reading. If you are still unsure about buying it, consider what I think is the most important feature of the book: it serves as firm ground to expand the much ignored and neglected study of the holy word of creation.

I've got little to say but this - "Tetragrammaton" by Donald tyson is a great book - and this is the same book under a new title, so if you have the one, don't get the other like I did.
Caveat emptor PS - I already did post a review, but being new to this, I don't know if I flubbed it or not, since I don't see it on the product page. If there is no two reviews, please accept my appologies. |
