That's All you Need For interviews,
By
This review is from: Power Up Your Job Search: A Modern Approach To Interview Preparation (Paperback)
Book points out critical essentials to interviewees of all levels, whether fresh from college or a seasoned interviewee. An interviewee will feel better prepared after covering the questions from the exercises. In fact the exercises give an interviewee a hands-on approach. The exercises have definitely enhanced the quality of this book as the exercises enable an interviewee to be prepared for possible questions asked in an interview. Going into an interview with confidence is an additional asset, something not many interviewees have.
Book also provides a powerful tool also for the interviewer, enabling an interviewer to seek out the candidate he/she wants, even pointing out the off limit questions. Book examines every possible strategy of how to be a successful interviewee and interviewer due to the wide range of topics covered. The book does live up to its claim of providing a short, concise and a comprehensive tool for successful interviewing and successful hiring. Two things needed: I find that need improvement is the front cover. To catch the eye of a potential buyer in a bookstore, the book should have a more appealing front cover design. Also do need some sample resumes and styles of resume as part of the job searching. Congratulations for well written book on interview preparation.

Worked For US!,

This review is from: Power Up Your Job Search: A Modern Approach To Interview Preparation (Paperback)
My husband has been out of work for nearly 3 months now and Gary Capone being a wonderful person gave me this book for my husband to read. He read it and was amazed at what he learned. He had interviewed before and thought he did a great job, but learned there was much more he could do. This book helped him land a first and second interview for a better career and now he is much more confident with the interviewing process which used to make him nervous.
Thanks Gary and Mark!

All In One,
This review is from: Power Up Your Job Search: A Modern Approach To Interview Preparation (Paperback)
Gary Capone and Mark Henderson couldn't have made this any easier for the new or old job seekers. Everything you need to know can all be found in one book. As a young adult, with very little interviewing experience, I found this book to be a necessity. It covers all aspects of the interviewing process, broken down into an easily remembered STAR(L) method. With easy to follow directions, exercises, and tips, this book has it all. For me personally, I feel that the exercises are the most valuable pieces of information I can take away and use in my own interviews. I am the type of person who tends to babble on in interviews and am sometimes unsure of what I should say or should not say. These step-by-step preparation techniques make it so easy and simple to mentally prepare for interviews. Everything is broken down into easy to follow chapters that not only give you an insight into what the employer is looking for, but also what as an individual you can bring to the interview.

This review is from: Power Up Your Job Search: A Modern Approach To Interview Preparation (Paperback)
Being the type of person that fumbles with the right words to say when I'm nervous, I feel like this book was made for me. With the STAR(L) method, everything is broken down in way that you can easily remember. The book has exercises that you can sit down and take your time to answer the most important questions you know that will be asked on an interview. I highly recommend this to anyone that is job searching and wants to be completely prepared.

Ready Set Interview!,

This review is from: Power Up Your Job Search: A Modern Approach To Interview Preparation (Paperback)
The power in this job search book is the location of a lot of good information in one place. The majority of the information and exercises can be found in various places, however, I am impressed by the structure and the details given in one place. If you are back in the job market after many years, you will love having an all encompassing book at your side before that first interview.

A Straight-Forward Approach to Gaining YOUR Chosen Career,
By
This review is from: Power Up Your Job Search: A Modern Approach To Interview Preparation (Paperback)
Interviews can be difficult for both the person seeking the opening as well as the person asking the questions. Just how stressful depends on your perspective of the meeting at hand, but one thing we can be certain about...we all feel at least a smidge better when preparations have been made in advance. How does one prepare for an interview? You have your normal routine...dress for success, bring a resume, be familiar with where you are going so as to meet at the appropriate time, etc, but what about anticipating the questions they may ask? Having "prepared" answers to common inquires? Or even what questions you will ask of the interviewer? These topics and more are well covered within the pages of this book. Through preparation, we reach a certain comfort level with which we can work through stressful events. Tactics suggested range include the STAR(L) method for answering questions based upon your experience, knowing what topics are off limits, the suggestion of staging mock interviews, and even a list of general suggested questions for your part in the proceedings.
A powerful guide to add to your arsenal of skills for both the interviewer and interviewee, authors Gary W. Capone and Mark Henderson have brought together the information needed to meet your next career goal. Through both informative text and practical exercises, every reader should be able to raise their performance level in these situations. Who knows...maybe you'll land then job of your dreams...if not, you'll at least walk away with the confidence to see that THEY missed out on a great opportunity. [...]

Power Up Your Job Search is an outstanding read. It is filled with practical information and insider tips crucial for a successful interview. With the current economy and job market, there is a great deal of competition for any advertised position. Using the tools in this book may help you gain an extra edge on your competition. My fiance read through this book about a week before his interview at a private school. One week and two interviews later he got the job.
Obviously the techniques in this book are not magical and will not get you a job you lack the qualifications to perform. What it will do, however, is teach you how to maximize your potential and present what you do have to offer in the best light possible.

Content barely justifies the cost of the book,
This review is from: Power Up Your Job Search: A Modern Approach To Interview Preparation (Paperback)
While this book has well-crafted mission, as is deftly communicated in the introduction, the rest of the book is lacking in the same thoughtfulness and follow-through, and as such falls short of it's stated goal. It's seems like the only part of the book that any effort was put into is the intro, which incidentally the only part of the book available thought the "see inside" option on Amazon. It comes off as a cheap scam, as the rest of the book's "corporate insider" info is common sense. Much of the content of this book is available for free on the internet -- you can do much better choosing practically any other book on interviewing at random. Don't waste your time and money!
