I am a power bar addict and I absolutely LOVE this one... However, the vanilla flavor adds to (rather than takes away from...) the typically "cardboard" flavor of a Power Bar. Oddly enough, this doesn't bother me! The vanilla is so sweet (and I am an admitted sugar addict) that it really does control that need for snacking. I usually split the bar... one half before my workout and one half after. I do agree that you MUST have water with one of these bars. It will sit like a ton of bricks in your stomach without the water. All in all, this bar is great. I can easily get through a long day or a tough workout with one of these.

I've tried many protein bars over the last two years and the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavored ProteinPlus Power Bars are definately the best I've had.

I started out eating the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control Nutrition Bars (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00007L64I/sr=1-4/qid=1129724511/ref=sr_1_4/104-3189383-4115126?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3760931&s=hpc&v=glance) a while back during the Atkins craze. (I replaced my Pop-Tart breakfast with low-carb bars.) I liked them a lot until one day EAS decided to make their bars "better" by adding "goo" to their bars. The chocolate chip brownie and peanut butter bars, once staples in my morning diet, had fallen from grace.

Now I buy boxes of ProteinPlus Power Bars (12 bar variety pack) from Sam's club ($14 and change), and the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavored are definately the best. I came to Amazon looking to see if I could get boxes of just this flavor. I also buy Snickers Marathon bars, which are glorified candy bars, and the Peanut Butter power bars are definately in the same flavor league as the Snickers bars.

The Cookies and Cream flavor are also good, but the Vanilla Yogurt flavor don't do much for me (thus the peanut butter only search).

Protein Bar, Vanilla Yogurt is my favourite energy bar. I eat it after a workout or a run. It tastes good, it takes time to eat (which is good!) and gives a fullness sensation. I particularly like the high protein concentration as opposed to other bars that have more of a carbohyrates emphasis. The pack of 12 lasts me two to four weeks and is a good bang for the buck.

This product contains large amounts of sugar alcohol as 'maltitol syrup'. This is not disclosed on the nutrition label, and is omitted completely from the list of ingredients shown on the Amazon.com site, even though it appears on the bar ingredents label.

If you have a bad reaction to the laxative maltitol beware, you will get very sick eating this product.

I wanted some extra protein for my workouts. Saw these on a gold box special at a great price and I bought them. I really don't like the taste, compared to other high protein bars I have tried, but they had great nutritional benefits. I would not buy these again though, due to the taste for me.

Pros
+Has more protein than your average bar (23g)
+has a huge load of essential vitamins and nutrients, with many meeting your daily value needs

Cons
-Sugar content is pretty high(19g)
-hardly any dietary fiber is a let down(1g)

I recently bought the vanilla yogurt bars 24 pack from ebay, and I think they taste great(very chewy) and are nutritious. I wasn't expecting these bars to have so many 100% daily values of important vitamins, and I personally don't think I need all that, since I get most of them from my cereal (such as from Total). The amount of protein (23 grams of course) are great, and the calories and saturated fat are slightly higher than your average protein bar (but if you're serious about gaining weight from weight training, it doesn't matter), but that never really worried me--even though I am controlling my calories to lose weight with running and weight lifting.

I'm disappointed though on the amount of sugar and lack of dietary fiber it has. 19g is a bit high for me, and 1g is just low. Many of their competitors have 4X the amount of dietary fiber, and a bit less sugar--though this bar does have more protein than your average bar. I know the sugar is needed to help make it taste great, but even I can personally feel its kick, and I would be better off with half the content.

I wouldn't mind opting for the reduced sugar variant, but those are a bit more expensive, and has 26g of sugar alcohol of who knows what.

I don't know if I'll ever buy these powerbar proteins again, after I'm done with my 24 pack, since these bars do have a lot of sugar. But if the makers of powerbar manage to cut the sugar content by at least half or even a quarter, and have a little more fiber, I'd buy them regularly!

I purchased these protein bars to save money from the price I normally pay for them. They came from Amazon and not a third party seller. This was my first time ordering from Amazon and was disappointed in this item only! Unfortunately, they were extremely stale. I looked at the expiration date on the product and it was fine, however, I think these items were frozen and thawed out or they sat in a very warm area of a warehouse and dried out beyond tastefullness! I had a few other people who always eat these try them and they said they were not good AT ALL! I will not order food type items from you again, but will definitely keep shopping at Amazon.com. It's great otherwise! Keep up the good work on your prices, items and service. I would take a look at your food storage though.

If I eat one of these bars at 7:30 am after a workout, I am not hungry until lunch, or around 11 AM. The bars taste fine, and if eaten with some kind of drink, won't sit heavily in your stomach. Good Stuff.

I've tasted all the flavors and I prefer the chocolate covered peanut butter bar the most. My Least favorate is the vanilla yogurt. These bars have gone up in price a bit the last few years as with all other food stuffs. I used to be able to get them at the local Walmart store for $12 to $14 a box then they stopped carying them.

I'll take a moment and compare this bar to the Met-Rx protein bars.

Different flavors may vary:

As this bar stands it has approximately 38grams of Carbs of which 21grams are simple sugars (not good). This differs from say a Met-Rx protein bar in that it has 13grams of Carbs with only 2grams being simple sugars. On the positive side the Met-Rx protein bar has 250 total Calories with 80 Cals from fat and all being of the saturated type. The protein Plus bar has approximately 290 Calories with 45 Calories being fat and only 2.5grams being saturated. I also recommend that one look at Sodium and Cholesterol content when selecting supplement bars. The Met-rx Protein bar has 10mg of Cholesterol and the Powerbar has 5mg. Both bars are comparible on sodium content.

You be the judge.

Hope this helped.

I love having one of these in my backpack or purse as a back-up pick-me up that isn't overloaded with sugar, sodium or artificial sweeteners. I'm deathly allergic to Splenda (secretly added to many things today under the chemical name of sucralose), so I always check labels. Most energy bars are not high enough in protein, or are either overly sweet, overly salty or worse - overly bland. I don't have the sensation that I'm eating cardboard covered in flavoring. Unlike a lot of protein bars out there, I really have a sensation of being full after having one, instead of trying to find something else to snack on. I'm one of those rare birds that hates chocolate, so it's hard enough to find an option that is not dripping in the brown stuff. Rest assured, chocolate lovers, PowerBar does make chocolate flavored bars - but I very much appreciate having the vanilla yogurt bar as an option for protein. It isn't overly crunchy, so I don't get flecks of particles all over my shirt when I grab one on the go - and I don't get stuff stuck between my teeth eating these, either - so it's safe to have before a staff meeting.
