I just got these- I must comment on them.

1) Although the blurb doesn't mention it, these come with a case.
2) the threaded design is excellent- the weights won't slip off (or even budge) as compared with those clunky weight sets that have those butterfly clip things.
3) I got these at 10% off, so they were the same as similar sets without the rubber grips. Trust me, those are definitely worth it!

With the recent birth of my new daughter, I wanted to get back into shape, so she wouldn't think of me as "old fat Dad." Well, my loving wife got me this weight set, and I am very pleased with it. The kit consists of two dumbbell handles with collars (about 5 lbs. when put together), four 5 lb. weights, and four 2.5 lb. weights. The plates fit on the dumbbells quite easily, and the nut-like collars ensure that they won't fall off.

I am very happy with these weights. It is quick and easy to change the weight of each dumbbell, and when it is together, it stays together, rather than the plates rotating and threatening to unscrew the collars. Also, the plastic container holds the plates and handles nicely and when the pieces are stowed away, it makes a nice small package for storage.

I have had these weights for a year now, and am quite happy with them. If you or someone you know wants to do some light weightlifting to get back into shape, then I highly suggest that you get this set. Looks great and works great!

I started out with a set like this but soon found I much preferred a set of fixed weight dumbbells instead. The weight-plate kind took a little time to change wights (not bad, but I do circuit training and don't like the delay).

Great quality dumbells. Comes in case for easy storage and provides a great work out.

I'm a chemistry graduate student and since all I do is work in the laboratory, I decided to do some strength training to make my body look better and stronger.

I was extremely happy when I received this item. The case and the packaging don't look good but when I assembled the dumbbells and tried it, I just realized that this set is a quality product. The plates don't move and the rubber grip is great for hand protection.

I also recommend the beginners to buy "The Great Dumbbell Handbook" by M. Jespersen to learn some routines. There are 4 5-lb plates and 4 2.5-lb plates so the maximum weight if you will use a two-dumbbell routine is 15 lbs each hand (20 lbs incl. handle) and 30 lbs (35 lbs incl. handle) for one-dumbbell routine.

You should buy additional plates if you want heavier loads.
