It charges my Acer A100 tablet just fine.

Also: The interchangeable tips are not typical, in that the common pins are two diameters, not uniform diameters which is very common in products of this type.

IDK, but it has worked well for me and my cd player in the car so far.

Very nice product, with a big documentation problem.

Good: Very nice build quality, awesome 2A (2000 mA) current specification, recessed switches (deeply recessed polarity reverse switch, which is a good thing so it is not changed inadvertently), multiple right angle tips. Reasonably long, thick, cable. It is fused. Has a light verifying that the automotive socket it is plugged in to has power. The dedicated USB port is a nice bonus. Fair price from Amazon.

Bad: Nowhere, anywhere, are the dimensions of the tips described. It is not in the Amazon description (as I write this). It is not on the minimal documentation page which comes with the product. And only after receiving the item, is it clear that the company is "originalpower.com" who markets this as "PowerLine" - well the tip dimensions are not on that website either! Nowhere.

Also: The interchangeable tips are not typical, in that the common pins are two diameters, not uniform diameters which is very common in products of this type. So, you cannot use other tips which are commonly available. So you are stuck using whatever tips are provided. In fairness, this design insures that the tips can only be attached to the cable one way, so the polarity switch (plus or minus) is actually correct. This is a the right way to do this, but again is not typical.

Conclusion: Good luck with whether or not this will fit your device! I took a gamble, and I lost.

In particular, the smallest tip is NOT a 0.7/2.35 mm size, which I was hoping for (an EIAJ Type I). Or it was supposed to be, and is the center is too loose. MY BACKUP PLAN was to cut off the socket end and just solder on a 0.7/2.35 mm plug (another 3 bucks). It did this and it works great on my Yaesu VX-3R amateur radio. I bought this as a nice, cheap, auto power supply with a 50-50 chance I would have to "hack it".

The adapter shorted out my lighter fuse twice. After the second fuse, I looked over the its design and determined that the chrome ring was acting as a conductor, and shorting out to my truck ground. So I painted on some liquid insulation over the ring, and it has been working fine since.

First Review was 4 stars
It shorted out my car fuse 3 times, so do this. Get a 1/2 inch diameter piece of shrink tubing and stretch it first, then place it over all the metal parts except the pressure tip and the expander rails. Heat and shrink it, it will then work fine.

Followup Review is 1 star
I am downgrading this item because it has failed again in less than 9 months of very little use. Not a fuse this time but some type internal failure. Additionally, I see from subsequent reviews that they still have not fixed the shorting problem. Consequently, I would not recommend this item to anyone.

I bought this to replace the :
12V 2A DC To Converter

which recently failed.

I had 2 of the the linked product, the first one lasted years wired first to power a MP3 player then later retasked as a computer muffin fan speed controller. I modified the dial to a thumb screw for easy turning.

This Powerline model is slimmer, and required no modification for toolless voltage changes.

I have no real use for the USB port as I have several in my vehicle, but it does work.

The second switch visible in the photo is to reverse polarity on the plug. I've personally never seen any device where the outside of the barrell is (+) but this gives you the ability to switch it easily, perhaps too easily.

I put a piece of tape over mine to prevent reverse polarity.

While my previous Mp3 player wanted 5 volts, it seemed to charge properly on both the 4.5 and 6 volt setting on the linked product without damage. Those needing only one voltage, and never needing to adjust it, might want to tape over the voltage switch as one can easily, unintentionally, move the voltage selector.

While this is a bonus for my usage as a fan speed control, it might fry some devices if fed a much higher voltage than it was designed for.

Edit: I have twice experienced the shorting issue where it has blown my Ciggy plug receptacle fuse which is rated at 30 amps in my System. It fits too loose within the receptacle and pushing/tweaking it to the side will allow the (+) to short to the (-). I will take steps to prevent this occurrence in the future as replacing the fuse is a bit of a PITA, and fuses are not cheap either.

What can I say about this except that you get what you expect. I measured the voltages and they are right on target. The adapter plug can go in two different ways so you must check the polarity with a meter or you might fry your equipment. You need to match the polarity of what ever you are connecting it to. I don't know why polarity isn't standardized. Being able to change polarity is a good thing, but I think a recessed switch would be a better option than reversible plugs.

The only negative, and this applies to all similar devices like this is that the adapter plugs don't lock into place. If you were disconnect it by accident you would have to get your meter out to re-verify the polarity.
