This is a real solid tool. With a wide range of staples available it should fit just about everyone.I bought mine when powershot was making them for black and decker.(exact same tool)I havent fired any brads with it butI have gone through some staples. It hasent jammed yet. Mine didnt come with the adapter or the cool little case and I paid a lot more. This one is a real winner. It is well worth the money. You wont be sorry

what a cool stapler!,

This review is from: PowerShot 5700KB Forward-Action Heavy-Duty Staple and Nail Gun Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
this stapler is the best one on the market for mult-purpose use around the house. i have used it for x-mas lights, running phone wire behind base board, and tacking up signs. the forward staple action makes it easier to use. the kit box is great for storage. this product is a winner.

Another Dangerous Warning,
By
This review is from: PowerShot 5700KB Forward-Action Heavy-Duty Staple and Nail Gun Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
This product is dangerous! It does not deserve even a one star rating. Two days ago, I was using the PowerShot 5700 staple gun when it jammed on the first staple attempt. As soon as I moved the staple gun to what I thought was a safer position to unjam the gun, it released the staple without warning and without my hand action. It shot the staple completely through the center of my ring finger. It had enough force to send the staple through the bone and out the other side. I spent the afternoon in the emergency room, while the emergency room doctors attempted to safely remove the staple from the bone.
This staple gun jams excessively, releases under power without provocation, and provides a level of danger that is not on a level with a consumer product's expectations. I am a degreed mechanical engineer with a great deal of experience in using tools for automotive restoration. I consider myself knowledgeable and careful in the use of tools. I have never had an injury similar to this in over 35 years of working with tools. I would be interested in having anyone with a similar experience contact me directly. Gary Lownsdale (real name)

Best stapler development since sliced bread,
By
This review is from: PowerShot 5700KB Forward-Action Heavy-Duty Staple and Nail Gun Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
There are a lot of great things about this product. First and foremost is the ergonomic considerations of getting the mechanical advantage from your hand to the trigger. Eventhough the form looks backwards the first time you use it - you won't have problems after you feel the difference between this new design and the archaic old stainless steel bricks. Second and just as important - when you're using a staple gun in the cold winter - the old steel ones sucked the heat right out of your hands. This baby has a wonderful non-slip, slightly malleable plastic palm. It's just a joy to pound staples in.The textured metal body has a nice heft and finish. The staple magazine has a great quality sound that provides positive feedback to know you're locked and loaded! And the included wire guide is key for around the house chores - it allows you to wire manage your phone/coaxial/etc cords without putting a staple through it. Just watch out for the sizes of staples you buy and the dropping it on hard surfaces in cold weather. Some internal parts are plastic - and they don't react too well in those conditions.

Excellent Heavy Duty Stapler,
By
This review is from: PowerShot 5700KB Forward-Action Heavy-Duty Staple and Nail Gun Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
The forward action of this hand stapler is by far the best that I have ever used.!! I use to put off the wiring jobs and other chores that would require using the typical staple gun, or worse, hammering those itty-bitty staples/brads. But with this staple gun, very little forward pressure is needed to trigger the shot, AND there is very little recoil, which is my main complaint of the "normal" staple gun.Great for laying wire and installing fiberglass insulation, the forward action will firmly seat the staple into the wood. The 9/16" brads are NOT seated entirely into the wood, but in my case, that is what I want. I use the brad stapler for preperation of thin wood for "stack cutting" scroll saw projects. The hand held PowerShot makes the prep time for the thin wood a breeze, and easy, AND it doesn't tire the hand. Easily fires staples flush, easy on the hand, HIGHLY recommend the PowerShot 5700KB Forward Action

Jammed, returned, replaced, jammed (repeat),
By
This review is from: PowerShot 5700KB Forward-Action Heavy-Duty Staple and Nail Gun Kit (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've never given a 1-star review before, but I'm so completely disappointed in this product that I just had to this time.
This stapler make a lot of sense to me -- the downward force when stapling is smack dab on top of where the staple (or brad) fires. This virtually eliminates kick-back and lands the staple solidly on target. It's pretty straightforward and only mildly awkward once you get used to the idea (which happens pretty quickly) - you just have to keep in mind that you're using a stapler that fires from "the other end". (Side note: Personally I don't try to operate any tool without understanding its basic operation, including what's sharp, what moves, and how the tool might react when used. This is especially true for those tools that that fire _projectiles_, so follow this advice and you probably won't wind up with a staple in your hand... or worse.) I say "mildly awkward," by the way, because I think when we (people in general) put force into a push, we're accustomed to using the heels of our palms - right in line with the forearm. That's more in line with how the traditional staple guns work. With this one, though, you kind of have to rock your wrist forward when you squeeze. It's as if you're pushing from the area between your thumb and first finger, which feels a bit unnatural. Anyway, I bought this stapler, a package of brad nails (same brand) and a package of staples (again, same brand). The staples fired about 80% of the time; the brads about 70%. I shot about 50 of each before the first jam (on a staple). I managed to get it cleared and shot about 15 more staples before it jammed again... then again, and again. Between misfires and jams, this product was really slowing me down. Finally "something gave" inside and the handle went limp. I don't think it was jammed - I think it just plain old broke because something was rattling inside. And the duty was light, too - by this time I was simply firing staples into a 2x4 to get a better idea of how often it actually worked. ANd I was careful not to hit another staple. So I returned it and got a replacement. With roughly the same rate of misfire, I was already disappointed, and after the third or fourth jam, it simply would not clear. The handle felt limp again, but not like before - it felt as if the gun were cocked and ready to fire, but just not firing - and of course there was no way I was going to look "down the barrel" to see what might be wrong. The jam wouldn't budge. So I returned it and got a replacement - again. Long story short: same problems. I'm totally disenchanted. I had carefully read and followed the instructions (which, by the way, mentioned how uncommonly rare it would be for the product to ever jam), I used only brads and staples of the same brand, and the target was only relatively soft 2x4 pine. And so my only 1-star review to date... Based on my experience, I advise against this product full heartedly.

Great Litte Gun:,

Im not sure about all the other bad reviews, some people sound like they didn't read the instructions.. hence the shooting yourself in the hand and not knowing what end shoots and what end doesn't.
To be honest this is a great little gun. I got mine for 20$ on sale. this is a discontinued item so in my opinion it should not be selling for 39.99 since the staples are hard to find unless you know someone who will order you some. It shoots staples and nails. I use this for many things! I used it to tack down loose sticky tiles in my back hall. I used it to tack down carpet on my steps. I used it to staple wires to the wall. I used this for many many things and it does the job well!! Just be sure to actualy read the instructions so you know what end shoots and what end doesn't. YOU ARE ALWAYS SUPPOSED to read instruction. Especially with tools. Especially with DANGEROUS tools.

When i first got this, i was very excited. I had a big project stapling a bunch of vinyl over some high density foam. I have one of the old style staplers but it almost always left some of the staple sticking out. I needed a change.I opened the case grabbed the stapler and loaded it up. Everything good so far. Thats where things went wrong. My first staple was good. On the second staple it jammed up. I pulled on the little rod for reloading and a staple shot past my head. (glad i wear safety glasses). I then pushed it back in and it jammed on the first one. every once in awhile i could get it to staple. Finally i decided to take it apart. when i started to take the side screws off, i noticed they were loose. I tighted these up real good and low and behold it worked pretty good. Still jams once in awhile but dont they all? I now like it, but will keep my eyes out for a better one.

Dangerous product..,

This product is very dangerous. It jammed up every time I tried to use it and shot out staples even when the trigger was not pulled. I have reported this to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and I strongly urge others to do the same.

Really Great Except for,

I really like the way it works when it works. I did not use the Powershot staples but used Arrow Brand that said they would fit. I am installing insulation and about every 5 staples, it would jam tight. I would have to open the staple tray with difficulty and take out a bunch of staples and start again. It seemed to jam most when held at angles instead of perfectly flat. I am really hoping that the Powershot staples make a difference or I am taking it back... I would give it less stars but I am not sure that is fair if the powershot staples work. However most rural hardware stores don't carry the powershot staples and I think it should handle the major seller of staples...
