Product Description

The Powerbag Instant Messenger in Black

Whether you're all over social media or a bike enthusiast, this messenger should be right up your alley. The Powerbag Instant Messenger has a battery system powerful enough to charge the average smartphone up to four times! The laptop and tablet pockets are padded for safe transport, plus the “Checkpoint Friendly” FlyFlat design means there's no need to remove your laptop when going through security.

Features

  • Removable, lightweight rechargeable 6000mAh battery. The built-in battery system charges the average smartphone four times and includes Apple, Micro-USB, and Mini-USB connectors and a USB port. Charge literally hundreds of devices including smartphones, eReaders, and many tablets. Tablets must be charged with their own USB cable through Powerbag’s on-board USB port.
  • External one-touch battery level indication and power button. The logo button turns Powerbag on or off when pressed and held for 2 seconds. Or press the logo button once quickly to see how much power is left.
  • Water-resistant AC adapter charging port. When it’s time to recharge your Powerbag, simply connect the included AC adapter and plug it into a wall outlet.
  • "Checkpoint Friendly” FlyFlat design. No need to remove your laptop when traveling; the Powerbag lays flat with your laptop inside for security screening.

This bag seems very well made.

Sadly, the bad was heavy without anything in it and the buckles that close the front are difficult to access quickly.

This bag seems very well made. This review is mainly to point out a few things that I would have liked to know before ordering.

On the front flap is a pocket for sunglasses lined in soft material. Inside the bag are several very small pockets and pouches, possibly large enough to hold a cell phone. There is also a bottle holder inside the bag on the side.

Overall a very good storage setup that does not seem cluttered or pointless. My main concern purchasing this bag was that it would be a really good phone charger and a really poor bag. This is not the case.

I bought this bag for two reasons

1 - to have a bag that can store a ton of stuff

2 - to have a bag that could charge my devices on the go

This bag excells at both. Its great when traveling and when I'm working outside of the office because I can charge up the devices when an outlet isnt available. The thing is built exceptionally well, its obvious a lot of thought was put into the design. Case in point, their "fly flat" design for the laptop compartment lets you keep the laptop in the bag when going through airport security. All you have to do is unzip that compartment on 3 sides and it lays flat while still attached. That shows the thought put into this bag for someonenon the go.

My only complaint is that the built in micro usb charger doesnt pump out enough amps to charge my galaxy nexus. I dont have apple products, so I did a quick and easy mod to change out the end of the ipod connector using a spare micro usb cable. It puts out 1 amp, so it should charge any newer phone with a micro usb. I had it charging my phone, kindle paperwhite and galaxy note 10.1 all at once with zero issues... lets see any other bag do that :)

I highly recommend this product for the business traveler or gadget person that needs to have some backup juice available wherever they go.

Update: I wanted to provide a quick update on the modification to the iPhone charging plug I made. I recently purchased a Nexus 5 and was having issues with it charging. I made a very minor tweak to enable fast charging. From your micro USB plug, connect the white and green wires together. These are your USB data wires, and in order to enable fast charge, these need to be connected together.

This bag does have some good things about it: battery pack, spacious, many pockets.

HOWEVER, the so-called "laptop" pocket does NOT fit a 17" laptop!! My home laptop measures 16.5" and will not fit in the designated laptop pocket. This because the design of the bag was poorly conceived. The zipper extends to 17" but due to the "fly flat" zipper that allows the bag to open like a flap, the way the flap is sown to the rest of the bag prevents a large laptop from being inserted into the pocket! It actually connects to the rest of the bag OVER TOP of the pocket that is for laptop. Ridiculous!!!!

Do not buy if your laptop has a length greater than 15 inches and you want it to fit in the "laptop pocket". With that said my 17" laptop still fits in the bag but it is juggling loosely around the inside area with the other pockets. If you have a lot of stuff to cram in the rest of the bag this may not work well for you when you cant use the "laptop pocket".

Also, no information really comes with the bag other than the booklet on charging devices and connectors.

I gave this Powerbag 3 our of 5 stars for a multitude of reasons. Let me summarize the good, the bad and the ugly:
The Good:
6000ma battery does indeed hold charge and can recharge a standard Android phone multiple times.
Bag design includes many pockets, some nicely lined in suede, to hold a multitude of electronics
The bag appears durable and is holding together well
Space. This bag comfortably holds a laptop, a tablet, a phone, other assorted papers and folders, and all the chargers that go with those gadgets.

The Bad:
The design of the bag means that the clips to hold the bag closed must be used every time you pick it up. They are small and hard to get to
For those of us with only Android devices, the dedicated wiring for iStuff does not do any good. I have not figured out how to switch the wiring so that the other pocket could be used to charge another Android device.
The Ugly:
Despite having what was advertised as a high amperage USB port on the battery, it wont charge my Barnes & Noble 7' HD tablet. This was my primary use for the bag and a big disappointment.

Overall, this is a good bag, if large capacity carrying bags are your thing. If you are someone that uses Micro USB, Mimi USB and iPhone 30 pin, this is your bag. If you require more flexibility in connectors, then not so much.

This is a very nice bag with an abundance of pockets. I only have two issues with it, and both are fairly minor. First, the buckles that connect the main flap to the rest of the bag are a bit cumbersome when it comes to connecting them and adjusting their length. This is due to their "under the flap" connection, which is a form over function design. Second, the reflective piping around the flap began wearing off within just a few weeks. It's still very visible at night, but it's continued to gradually wear off with travel and everyday use. The battery integration is wonderful for charging on the go, but the cords are not long enough to allow using devices while they charge. There is a standard USB charging port that you can plug your own cord into, as well, so that shouldn't be a deal breaker. However, that port is located inside the main pocket of the bag, so you'll have to deal with unbuckling and re-buckling the front flap to get to that.

Watch the video for a complete rundown of the bag's size, pockets, and features. Hopefully this will help you in deciding if this bag is right for your needs without the guesswork of just reading the manufacturer's specs.
