They work. One string worked after 48 hours of charging. Strangely the other one didn't . But after a couple of sunny days they both now shine brightly at night for several hours.
So they work as expected. Simple decorative lights. They are not bright enough to cast any light on a walkway though.
Cons: The string was shorter than expected (I had no idea what 100 lights meant in terms of covering our front hedge). Also, the lights are pretty expensive for such a short length, but we'll probably end up buying another one anyway because we like the idea of solar.
Added note on 12/5/10: The lights do not stay on as long as expected. Even after a sunny day with direct sunlight, the lights stay on no more than five to six hours. This is fine with us, however, because we usually turn off our lights when we go to bed to conserve energy anyway.
These solar string lights are great. We placed the panel directly under the tree that the lights are wrapped around (its the only place we can guarantee the dogs won't knock it over) and even though it doesn't get direct sun much of the day, these little lights light well and last into the wee hours of the morning.
Please remember when ordering that these are solar powered and LED lights. They are not as brilliant as your standard plug-in light strings. And, as one should expect given they are LEDs, they have a typical bluish tinge to them. But, for solar lights, these are delightful!
My one disappointment was that I was misled by the term "35-foot". I imagined that the solar panel would be on one end, and then there would be 35 feet of string. This is not the case. The solar panel has a few feet of unlit wire, and then the wire splits to two separate strands of lights. So basically the solar panel is in the middle the lights. This made my original decorating scheme unfeasible, but I was able to make do.
I was able to find additional solar light strings locally at a lower price. But all in all these lights are not a bad deal. I plan to string them around our pergola for the summer.

Stopped working after two days. Couldn't find the problem so I threw them away. At this price, didn't expect they'd last a lifetime but these are crap so buyer beware.Published 6 months ago by M. Howell
These have been the best solar strings I've found. They do need a full day of sunlight to last well into the night.Published 6 months ago by A.B.
They tend to last about 6-8 hours. Keep the solar panels clean for best eficiency.Published 9 months ago by michael burke
The lights worked well for about 2 1/2 months then quit working. Tried a new battery and waited several days just to make sure the lights had a chance to charge. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Jill G
