these "monitors" are pretty good, i read some not so good reviews about them , however they turned out to be pretty decent. For the amazingly low price compared to other monitors these ones do the job pretty well. Now, im no expert at sound engineering yet i noticed that the monitors provide a fairly accurate depiction of what a real mix would sound like. I reccommend these to any "garage bands" and solo artists who need to produce a demo/EP. Again its not top top top quality, thats why i gave it a 4, also i have had these for a short time now so i dont particulary know the durabilty /longevity of the product. Good buy, solid item, tascam never lets you down.

I was at the MacWorld trade show this week and noticed how many horrible sounding small computer speakers (with subwoofer) are out on the market for both your computer and your iPod.
The Tascam booth had a refreshing sound from these speakers...no heightened upper midrange that gives music a bad sounding digital "CRRunch". These were smooth and flat. I've been looking for a pair ever since hearing them at the booth...and that's with a LOT of competing ambient noise. I can't wait to hear them in my quiet apartment.

Lost the first set in a fire, liked it so much bought it again. Good sound quality, use it mostly for watching movies.

Bought these for one of my daughters who, oddly enough, has a rather discerning ear. Good overall sound. Lacking somewhat in the lower and very upper frequency ranges. The sound they do produce is quite clear, but it was a bit more directional then I would have assumed. Could use a little more volume too.

Construction quality was a big concern for me, so was being certain all the speaker elements were hidden. The former because I'd rather buy something more expensive once, then something cheap twice. The latter because she has a dog that has a tendency to chew on things. All of the components feel solid, and indeed are probably a bit heavier then you might anticipate. And, best of all, none of the speakers are exposed, something that occurs on an alarming number of these smaller 2.1 systems.

All-in-all a nice setup. Could use some more bottom end, but not a lot of other shortcomings.

I love the sound quality, style, construction, and feel of these. The quality is solid. I bought them when working with Apple Logic Pro for a course I was taking.

I do not like that the only adjustment is located on the back of the subwoofer.

These are better suited to musicians (or those who are looking for clarity and precision in the sound) than to those who are looking for something LOUD.
