Pretty great, but a little bulky and expensive,

I love my Powermat! This DS back is very nice, and feels durable and well as only adding to the bulk of the unit slightly, however it would prevent it from being put into most DS protective cases. I don't have one, but I could see this being a problem. Also, it is a little annoying that the charger input isn't accessible when the back is on, so if I want to use my car charger I have to remove the entire back.
However, I do love the charging system and I'm very glad I bought this product to go with it!

Bought one of these recently after getting a great deal on the Powermat itself. The item arrived quickly and I tried it out right away. It was easy to put onto my DSL and it fits very well. My only complaints is that if you leave it on while playing it gets just a little in the way of the left and right shoulder buttons. The sides could stand to be a hair lower than they are to avoid this problem. It's comfortable to hold while attached to a DS and it doesn't prevent use of any of the buttons beyond that minor issue with the shoulder buttons. It charges the system just fine when places on the powermat and since the only cord you need is the one for the power mat, you can travel and avoid having numerous items plugged in at the same time. Just place on the powermat and let it charge.

Charges Faster than the standard DS charger,

In order for the mat to do its job, each device needs it's own receiver. The receiver for the Nintendo DS is made from a hard plastic that wraps around the bottom of the system and plugs into the charging outlet. It is designed to stay on as part of the gaming system. My son has now had it own his DS for 3 days and he does not even notice it.
Each receiver has a charging pad on the back of the unit. When the charging pad is put onto the mat, a beep sounds and the device lights up to tell you that it is now being charged. My son's DS actually charged faster with the Powermat than it does with the regular charging code. If you already own a Powermat, the Nintendo DS receiver is totally worth the price.
