case won't come off,
By adam464 (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Powermat Receiver Case for iPod Touch (Electronics)
I received this case as a gift and it seemed like a pretty good deal, charge my ipod "wirelessly" and get a case at the same time. Unfortunately, the case doesn't like to come off of the ipod. I spent hours trying to unattach the case, but to no avail. Finally I gave up and looked online to see if anyone else had problems similarly to mine. Turns out the internet is filled with people who couldnt get their cases off except by using extreme measures that I wasn't willing to risk. I figured that there must be a trick to it so I called the manufacturer who directed me to their website. They have a specific video detailing how to remove the case (so you know its a common problem). Unfortunately, while this video makes it seem like an easy task, I was still unable to remove the case. I think this might only be an issue with some of the cases, maybe I just pushed it into place too hard the first time? Either way, beware. It's been a few months now, and my ipod is still being held captive by the powermat casing.

Its a great charger but a little inconvenent to have if you want to listen to music,
This review is from: Powermat Receiver Case for iPod Touch (Electronics)
I purchased this for my husband as a gift, and the charging part works great. Its a little bulky since the cover/battery is a little big, however you have to take the whole case off each time you want to hook it up on the USB to listen to music. So if he wants to put it in a cradle doc or hook it up on his car stereo you have to take the battery cover off each time. (its a pain) they should come up with a solution so you shouldnt have to take it off for any reason.

Not designed for the 4g touch,

This review is from: Powermat Receiver Case for iPod Touch (Electronics)
This case is not designed for the fourth generation iPod touch. The cutout for the power button is on the wrong side and there is no hole for the front-facing camera. To use either of them, the case must be removed. Also, there is a good deal of space between the case and the iPod once it is assembled. This creates a recess between the volume buttons and the case, making it difficult to reach them if you have big fingers.
I ended up drilling some holes through the plastic to enable access to the camera and power buttons, and added a few layers of tape to the inside to enable a more secure fit. It is a good product that works well in most respects, but it should not be advertised as compatible with the 4g touch.

Fits perfectly and is easy to use but is bulky and can make finding a nice fitting cover nearly impossible

Does what is says.,

I personally didn't care for this product. It does exactly what it's advertised to do, charge the Ipod without plugging it in, but that is all it is. The case for me was to bulky and also it adds about a half an inch off the bottom, which I feels changed the whole feel of the Ipod. Today i bought a new case and for my Ipod and I couldn't believe just how small the Ipod really is. I wouldn't recommend this product, unless you don't mind the size of the case.

Excellent power connection,

Purchased for my son's ipod touch 2nd gen that wouldn't charge from the normal plug in connector. Apple store guy said it was probably a bad/loose connection inside, and couldn't be repaired. Bought this receiver case here, got the charging mat direct from PowerMat website. Put in ipod and it charges up like a charm! No more dead battery due to bad cable connection.

First of all, don't let the other reviews fool you. I bought this to eliminate cords, especially because I am in the process of baby-proofing my house.
That said: 1. This is a fanastic case that doesn't add much bulk to your iPod. 2. IT IS NOT HARD TO UNDO THE CASE....Unless you're an idiot. If it was, then we should talk about how you got those pants on this morning. 3. It ships FAST. Especially from Mike Mohajer. I would absolutely buy from him again. The only thing I could say is that maybe he could use more water-proofing on the inner packaging. 4. I don't have a powermat yet, but will update when I do. 5. Would definitely re-order if I had the need. This is the perfect case for anyone with an iPod, and seems to be a great system.

Very tricky getting off.,

The ipod touch receiver is very hard getting set up. BEFORE YOU PUT IT ON YOUR IPOD, you must take a file and file down the latches on the sides. If you don't reduce that little ledge, the case will get stuck on your ipod. Many, many people have had this problem and there aren't really any good solutions other than filing the latches down or risk breaking the screen pulling so hard your wrists hurt.
The headphone jack is deep in the case so most headphones won't reach. The included extension really isn't practical to carry around without loosing. Not a very good product. They need to re-design.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
If you own an iPod Touch and already have an existing Powermat, this is a very nice purchase. The cover adds a little bit of bulk, but not enough to annoy you. I thought the cover was easy to take off as well. The only problem I had was that I had to take the cover off whenever I wanted to play music through my Altec Lansing Speaker Dock. Overall though, it works fine and comes in at a fair price point.
