Good information about siddhis,

I bought this book to understand Aurobindo a bit more since Ken Wilber mentions him in his works. This book is a collection of pieces of work from Aurobindo and The Mother. Aurobindo's passages are clear and interesting, The Mother's are also clear and interesting but don't seem to be coming from the same place as Aurobindo's.
One of the best things about this book was Aurobindo's realistic attitude about powers within or siddhis. His attitude is summed up in this line: "Power in itself may be dreaded as a temptation by the aspirant to perfecting, because power can abase as well as elevate; nothing is more liable to misuse. But when new capacities come as an inevitable result of the growth into a greater consciousness and greater life [then] that growth is part of the very aim of the spiritual being within us...." page 5. His instructions for developing these powers within are right on and presented in an understandable fashion. If interested in Aurobindo or the subject of the book, buy it. If interested in what Ken Wilber sees in Aurobindo, don't buy it.

As mentioned in the book description and other reviews, this book is a great resource to have in your library. It was recommended to me by a friend. I am still reading it, but I do find myself feeling more positive already. Mother and Sri Aurobindo explain the power of our thoughts and why it is important to have good thoughts, and clear thoughts, and how we truly are capable of creating a future we want. Mother gives some simple and real-life examples to illustrate her message. It's a really interesting and inspiring read. I am looking forward to multiple readings of the book in years to come.
There's another book by the same title/author http://www.amazon.com/dp/817058535X/ but i do not know how they are different.

One of the most important books on yoga!,
This review is from: Powers Within (Paperback)
So many people dont know the real yoga. Today there is too much attention on the asana's the physical and that is too bad. This book really shares the complete teachings. It is like sitting down with one of those old wise yogi's.

Very useful.,

As stated in the brief review above, this is a book about powers inherent in us all. If you would like to investigate one of the original sources for "your thoughts create your reality" it is here. Personally, I found the writings of The Mother more down to earth and understandable. Often, she is explaining the teachings of Sri Aurobindo. Recommended.

Wisdom such as this from Aurobindo will, hopefully, evolve into qualities every human being are born into, along with the gratitude and humility to honor them.
