5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Song from the YouTube-Hit "Where the Hell is Matt" (2008), July 12, 2008
This review is from: Praan (MP3 Download)
A wonderful song that is featured on the YouTube-Hit "Where the Hell is Matt" (2008) (Matt Harding) and was written by Garry Schyman and sung by young Palbasha Siddique.

The text is from the Bengali poem Gitanjali ("Stream of Life") from Rabindranath Tagore:

Bhulbona ar shohojete
Shei praan e mon uthbe mete
Mrittu majhe dhaka ache
je ontohin praan

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami

Shei jhor jeno shoi anonde
Chittobinar taare
Shotto-shundu dosh digonto
Nachao je jhonkare!

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures. It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers. It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth and of death, in ebb and in flow. I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life. And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

Simply love-food for my ears!

If you like this kind of music: try out the music from KÀ from Cirque du Soleil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Praan is an Amazing Song with a Great Singer, July 8, 2008
This review is from: Praan (MP3 Download)
This song, by Garry Schyman, was commissioned by Matt Harding of "Where in the Hell is Matt" fame on YouTube. The singer is 17 year old Palbasha Siddique of Minneapolis, MN. She has been signing for years, and her hard work shows.

This is an incredbily moving song, even if you do not speak Bengali.

We need more Garry Schyman, more Matt, and especially, more Palbasha. She received no royalties for this song, but hopefully someone who recognizes pure talent will cut her a deal and let her make millions! She deserves it for the joy she brings to anyone who listens to this song.

Strongly recommended - buy this song - it will make your life better! (oh- and if you haven't - watch the video).

5.0 out of 5 stars Dancing around the world, July 14, 2008
By
This review is from: Praan (MP3 Download)
Garry Schyman's "Praan" is a joyous New Agey/easy listening version of a poem by renowned Indian poet Tagore. It is a song about the flow of life. On YouTube, it accompanies Matt Harding's travels around the world. He dances with faux French maids in Japan,at the DMZ in North Korea, with Bollywood dancers, among lemurs in Madagascar and with tribesmen in Papua New Guinea.

"Praan" expertly blends the contemporary with classical Indian music. It's like a mild curry with a hint of spice. It's a flowing,peaceful,life-affirming song. Garry Schyman should make an entire album, and showcase the talents of Indian singer Palbasha Siddique more! "Praan" is a happy song;the YouTube vid shows dance uniting people of diverse cultures. Dance around the world!

Dance and laughter are threads of human existence that bind us all together and transcend cultural and socioeconomic differences. Just for a moment we forget about all of our differences and become one in harmony. This song's theme reflects this reality and the video expresses it joyously for all to see.

I know everyone, EVERYONE has given this 5 stars up to now. But this song is BETTER than you imagine. It's just an amazing tune, well orchestrated - I wouldn't change a thing. Coupled with Matt Harding's video, it's brilliant. The song stands on its own beautifully. It's now on my iPod, in my car, you name it.

Spend the 89 cents. You'll be glad you did, and the world will be just a wee bit better because of it.

Thanks, Garry, for a wonderful slice of music!

5.0 out of 5 stars La belleza del ser humano., August 6, 2008
This review is from: Praan (MP3 Download)
Please forgive me, but I need to write this review in Spanish, my fisrt language, so I can express the happiness this song makes me feel...

Thanks!!!

This review is from: Praan (MP3 Download)
This song is great. I love the melody, the instruments, and especially the voice of the woman who sings this. It has such a upbeat feel to it and the cadence is perfect.

It's even better when you see the video. It makes me smile every single time I watch it.
