Book Description

1580539157 978-1580539159 November 2004
Filters are key components in a vast range of electronics. They produce crystal clear sound in music systems, clean up distortion in radios, televisions, and telephones, and are indispensable in medical imaging and scanning. To aid every engineer in the many industries that rely on analog and digital filters, this book shows electronic engineers how to quickly master analog and digital filter design and implementation. This hands-on guide explains in practical terms all the essential mathematical functions so engineers can apply them directly to their own filter design problems. The book delves into real-world implementation issues, guiding readers away from common design pitfalls to successful filter development. CD-ROM Included! Contains Windows-base filter design, analysis, and implementation software so you can immediately apply filter theory to actual filter development.

2.0 out of 5 stars I should have gone to the library..., August 22, 2007
This review is from: Practical Analog and Digital Filter Design (Artech House Microwave Library) (Hardcover)
I needed to issue a bid on a new project involving digital filtering/DSP and picked this book up for a quick refresher course on Digital Filter Fundamentals. It's OK I guess, but not worth the 100 bucks I spent on it.
Next time I'd spend a half hour in the Library with the previous edition -
which was checked out at my local college library when I needed it - and save the money. The other reviews which tout the C code examples are being overly generous IMHO. The code examples seem to me to have been pasted in as an afterthought rather than developed as an integral part of the material. I'm not sure where this book's niche is, I don't believe this product is unsafe, and as far as I know, no animals were harmed in its creation, but it didn't really serve my purpose, and I can't say I would recommend it as an introductory text on Filter theory either. One man's opinion. YMMV.
