Dr. Scott Hahn does not exactly debate. When challenged by fundamentalist Christians and others about his conversion to Catholocism, he does not simply contradict what his questioners say. He speaks from his own experience, explaining his long-term doubts about Catholic teaching and how those doubts were resolved. Dr. Hahn can put the Protestant objections to Catholicism better than most of his challengers--quoting chapter and verse from the Scripture texts they frequently use-- but he is not threatening. In this series, he reveals insights to Protestant views of the Bible, how Christians are "saved", the Papacy and he shows methods for debating the legitimacy of the Catholic Church. Most Protestants do not know what to make of him because he knows Luther and Calvin better than they do. What they do is listen--very, very carefully.

Like John Henry Newman, Scott Hahn was self-driven to find the Truth. And, he was dedicated to following the truth whereever it lead him--even if it lead him to Rome and would cost him dearly. He eventually lost his job, his position in the Evangelical Society, many of his friends and his vocation as a minister. But, he lost less than what he gained -- the full truth of the Gospel. Thats when the former persecutor became a great champion and defender of the Faith.

This 4 tape series begins with 2 tapes of debate. Scott Hahn and Dr. Knudson (sp), a Protestant, cover Authority, Justification and the like. It is awesome, until the microphone levels on Dr. Knudson are so low, you can barely hear his discussion.I recommend the series, but be prepared for less than perfect audio.
