Book Description

0397518412 978-0397518418 January 1998 2 Sub
Now in its revised, updated Second Edition, this unique atlas is a practical, well-organized, and thoroughly illustrated guide to the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. The book combines succinct, pragmatic discussions of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies with more than 700 full-color retinal photographs, which clearly and vividly depict the distinguishing features of each disease and the most effective treatment techniques. The photographs and text will enable clinicians to rapidly diagnose specific disease entities and determine the most appropriate medical or surgical therapy. The Second Edition features four new chapters on endophthalmitis; submacular surgery; arterial and related retinovascular occlusive disease; and macular holes and other surgical macular disorders. Numerous new illustrations have been added, and many illustrations from the previous edition have been replaced by new ones of greater clarity. Chapters have been updated to provide state-of-the-art information on current diagnostic and therapeutic modalities

4.0 out of 5 stars good atlas for good price, April 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Practical Atlas of Retinal Disease and Therapy (Hardcover)
I bought this book used for under $40. For the price, it was a steal. The book is about 8 years old now, some things are not uptodate with regard to treatments and a few other things (like I believe they refer to VEGF as angiogenic factor). However, as a good atlas with excellent pictures and good descriptions of disease states, I find it an excellent complement to a general ophthalmology atlas. There is also text on vitreoretinal surgery which is useful as a foundation for residents starting a retina rotation.

The book is a introductory exposition to Retinal Diseases. Not meant for serious practitioners.

This review is from: Practical Atlas of Retinal Disease and Therapy (Hardcover)
Three months ago, I recieved an opportunity to have my retinal detachment repaired by the author of this book. Dr. William Feeman. The surgery was performed at the Shiley Eye Center here in La Jolla, Ca. I am now almost completely recovered. I have always been very afraid od doctor's, and even though Dr. Freeman is up front and frank, I would not have wanted anyone else to perform my surgery. His book explains it all!! It is a Must Have for anyone suffering from any retinal disease or recovering from any retinal surgery. It REALLY explains it all. James Lamberth Jr. San Diego, CA. 92109
