This is not an easy book but a very valuable reference work. Chinese changes fast and this represents the written work not spoklen chines but it has many very useful entries and tables. I had it referred via my chinese teacher and found it very useful indeed.

I'm a Chinese Language major in college so I need as much help as i can get. I retnted this book from the library and was pleasantly surprised by it's layout and the easy was that it explained grammar points. I use this book all the time and think that this book will definitely help me progress further into the Chinese Language.

This book and Routledge's Intermediate Chinese are the best books out there for study.
Alas there aren't many good Chinese books out there. You better be able to read Chinese if you buy this book.
