Based on my experience with this book, I would recommend it to anyone planning to learn chinese since I have used this book and is currently on level 6. I have not only learned the language, but also the culture and history. This is a great tool for any Chinese language learner, either beginner or intermediate. At first, I was reluctant to learn chinese. Now, I feel that I have more of an understanding of the amazing Chinese language.

I too highly recommend this book. I have not seen the rest of the series yet but Book 1 is the best I have seen yet.
It is simple and in black and white. The characters are in large print. The tape is wonderful with English and Chinese on it. YOu can take it to the car and practice there without needing the book even. There is a workbook and ChinaSprouts says it is on backorder for about a month now. I am still waiting for it and when I do. I will write a review on the workbook.
The topics are relevant to the kids and the books has English to aid those children from families who do not speak nor read Chinese.

I also like the CHinese for Children COloring and Activity Book.

My kids are in Chinese School using the school's book and it is horrible for children whose parents do not know the language. I use Wendy Lin's book to help supplement and help me a bit. The written activities are fun for the kids.
I am now preparing to order Book 2 and perhaps convince the teacher to use this series instead.

I want to learn Chinese and I don't have any experience with this language. I bought this book because i want to learn Chinese, but I think it's not so easy than others you can find in Amazon.

If you know some Chinese, maybe it will be good for you. If your a beginner like me, try with some other.

I CHOSE THIS BOOK BASED ON THE GOOD REVIEWS AS A GIFT FOR A FRIEND WHO WAS INTERESTED IN LEARNING CHINESE. WHEN MY FRIEND RECIEVED IT, HE SAID IT DOES NOT TEACH YOU HOW TO "SPEAK" CHINESE VERY WELL. FOR THE PRICE I PAID FOR 76 PAGES, I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED HE DIDN'T LIKE IT.
