5.0 out of 5 stars The Dog's Bollocks, January 11, 2003

This review is from: Practical Classics & Car Restorer (Magazine)
A largely unpretentious rag for people who like to restore affordable foreign classic cars (with a definate British bias). Very witty, with great restoration tips. Often covers complete step by step restoration of various models. Great pictures. Though it used to be readily available, the magazine's US distributors now do a terrible job of getting PC into the bookstores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Mag, Terrible Distribution, October 23, 2008
By
Mayor West (Twin Cities, Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Practical Classics & Car Restorer (Magazine)
This a fantastic mag for anyone with an older car, however owning a European or better yet an English car helps. They employ writers that are witty and very knowledgeable, and own their own "basket case" autos. Repair and technical advice is focused on the DIY mentality, with cost and practicality being paramount. I have been getting Practical Classics magazine for over 10 years and I am always finding something new and entertaining with every issue, my favorite piece is the monthly segment called Rust In Peace where they have readers "barnyard" finds photographed with brief details of the find. The best find usually wins money or a car related product.

EWA, the US distributor, had been doing a fairly decent job of getting the mags to the subscribers until recently from my perspective anyway. Over the last year I have missed 4 issues with little explanation and only an offer to credit my account for the missed months. I am so fond of this magazine that I really don't want to miss a single issue and the idea of ordering back issues from the UK for issues I should have had in the first place is unacceptable. So if you do choose to order this mag first I would suggest ordering it from EWA1.com or EWACARS.com where the price is cheaper, and second be advised that you need to keep track of the issues you might not be getting. Another thing that I am going to try is to order the mags directly from the UK source, greatmagazines.co.uk, and see if I can bypass EWA all together, yet they might just refer me to EWA anyway. Time will tell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical to read, impractical to buy in USA, August 13, 2008
This review is from: Practical Classics & Car Restorer (Magazine)
Excellent read. Very informative and practical for those who cherish these cars, however their marketing in the USA is poorly misdirected. They should take some lessons from domestic mags here. If you own a european car, of any vintage or make, this is a great resource, but find a copy at your library or make them subscribe!
