The hematopathologists at my institution (a large urban community teaching hospital) recommended this book to me. It comes in two volumes, one focusing on the benign conditions and the other focusing on the malignant conditions. Both books come packaged in a similarly decorated box that holds them together on the shelf.
This is a nice set but now that the new WHO is out, I urge you to get that first, then get this as there have been many classification changes since this set was published. (Because of the updates in the more recently published WHO, I would now give this book 4 stars, not 5, but amazon won't let me change that for some reason.)

Easy to read!
Has a lot of pics, which you will need! In my opinion it the best single reference for hematopathology! I totally recommend it!

nice pix, but hard to read at times,

I'm a resident in path, but not planning to practice hemepath at all in the future. So I bought the books to just pass the boards. I thought the pix will help. They do. But the text is hard to read at times. And I absolutely hate the index. I cannot find the topics I wanted in the index. The computer or some poor soul will need to update the index a little better.
However, I must say that I'm biased toward the textbooks b/c I don't like hemepath much. It's a "chore" to read it. I would still recommend it for the pix alone. There are plenty of books out there for reading the vast amt of info you need to pass the boards. Look at the pix! |
