    More About the Author

    Barbara P. Wheeler is currently an adjunct professor for the Chemistry Department, Forensic Science Program at Eastern Kentucky University. Prior to joining EKU faculty, Wheeler worked with the Kentucky State Police Forensic Laboratory for many years. In that capacity, she was highly regarded within the law enforcement community for providing professional forensic work and quality analytical examinations. She has worked thousands of criminal cases and has testified in district, state and federal courts in Kentucky. Major casework has also taken her to several states for expert witness testimony. At the university, Wheeler assists with various forensic courses and also works to place students in laboratory internships. Wheeler also continues to provide forensic consulting on a variety of levels.

    Wheeler has co-authored a chapter dealing with microscopy in the Forensic Science volume of Wiley's "Encyclopedia of Analytical Chemistry". She has also written a chapter in "Trace Evidence Analysis: More Cases from Mute Witnesses", a book highlighting cases solved through the use of trace evidence. Wheeler has also presented numerous lectures and workshops dealing with forensics. While working with KSP, she was the recipient of several awards and acknowledgments. She continues to maintain several career and committee memberships.
