Great textbook,

This review is from: Practical Grammar of the St. Lawrence Island/Siberian Yupik Eskimo Language (Paperback)
This is a great textbook for the Siberian Yupik language. This textbook is very much like it's sister textbook Practical Grammar of the Central Alaskan Yup'ik Eskimo Language. Thus this review will be quite short, as you can read my review of the Central Alaskan Yup'ik textbook to get a picture of what this textbook is about. The only differences, are that this book is shorter then the Central Yup'ik book and is written in a way that assumes that you know some Yup'ik already. There are no 'connected readings' through out the lessons of the book, but there are some readings at the end. There is no audio that goes with this book either. I would recommend that anyone interested in learning Yupik, learn Central Alaskan Yup'ik and then, if desired, use this book to learn Siberian Yupik. Also available through the Alaska Native Language Center (google for it, they also have quite a bunch of other resources). |
