This is the best book on Creative Visualization I've read...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires (Paperback)
This is the best book on Creative Visualization I've read, I only review books I think are 5-starworthy and this is one of them. I genuinely urge you to buy this. Shakti Gawain's is good, very good in fact, but what makes this great is that it takes a more practical instead of a cosmic foo-foo approach, and Ms. Gawain borrows from Scientology with it's being, doing, having triangle -- Denning and Phillps (or should I say, the Barcynskis', Denning and Phillips are their pen-names) take a wholly original approach to the material. And although the part about singing and chanting/mantraining about your goal may seem silly at first to the normal reader. It's very effective. And "The Star Technique" is an amazing thing... It gets you what you want or something better. But all that isn't the end-all be all of the story with this book's incredible methods. Agghhh.. Just read and apply it. Or to put it quite colloquially: Hoooowheee -- that is a spicey' meatballah!Captain Josh.

By far the best book on visualization,
By
This review is from: Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires (Paperback)
This is by far the best book on visualization that I have encountered. The authors were internationally recognized authorities on the Western Mysteries and of the Ogdoadic Tradition, a hermetic school of which the keywords are knowledge and regeneration. This excellent work deals with all the important aspects of visualization: realizing that the source of supply is spiritual, the power of music and song, establishing a desire on the astral, mental and spiritual planes. The authors have a knack for explaining things simply and practically. They show you how to create and maintain an image, and how to infuse it with the power of your higher self, and even tell you how to terminate a process of visualization should you no longer want it to proceed. More advanced techniques include the Star Technique, the Multiplication Technique and the Master Method, all of them very easy to carry out. The appendices include wisdom texts to assist learning and motivation, information on prayer and worship (like building an altar), and advice on maintain sound mental and physical health. There are illustrations explaining the stairway to success and the star technique, plus an I Ching hexagram. This is a classic work in the field and one I would recommend first to those wishing to explore creative visualization.

Get anything you want - but want what you get......,
By Richard Verhey (Holland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires (Paperback)
This book started me on creative visualisation. Since then I have created quite a library on the subject, but have yet to find a book in which the technique explained by Denning & Phillips is so well documented and laid out in a practical and down to earth manner. I can attest that it works. Certainly, you have to do the ground work, but the results do come. The book is well laid out, every chapter has study points to emphasize the most important points of what is taught, and it leads, most of all, to the manifestation of what you want.

A Kabbalistic Guide to Creative Visualization,
By
This review is from: Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires (Paperback)
While it is never explcitly stated, this book provides a Kabbalistic guide to creative visualization. Its theory comes out of the concept of the Four Worlds on the Tree of Life. For those familiar with that theory, this book puts this powerful technique in a framework they already understand. For those unfamiliar, it should still work incredibly well. The wonder of the Four Worlds is that the idea is so common sense that the authors never even directly mention it. They lay out progressive techniques which access each level of Mind without dwelling on heavy occult theory. In other words, this book is useful to everyone, regaurdless of whether or not you know what the Ruach is. The book basically takes you through the formative stages of daydreaming, on to planning, concrete visualization, and charging with Divine power. There is also a quikie technique called "the Star" which helps with matters of immediate concern. The Master Technique, as they call it, could easily be modified for use with the Middle Pillar or similar Kabbalistic Exercise. I'm very impressed with Denning and Phillips in general, and this book is another example of how woderful their work is.

Get this one instead of The Power of Now,
This review is from: Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires (Paperback)
The one to get. Goes nicely with Condensed Chaos by Phil Hine.Practical Guide offers highly insightful, esoteric - but accessible - methods of visualizing your goals and making them happen. Draws from ancient wisdom with a modern, immensely effective spin. Very very good!

My favorite on manifesting and visualization !!!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires (Paperback)
I have read a lot of books in the past year on creative visualization and manifesting your desires and books on witchcraft and magick. This is MY PERSONAL FAVORITE among all these becasue it goes beyond visualization- talks about how to put energy into the picture and how to realease it and also gives a few special techniques. AND more. There is no fluff - the book doesn't go on for chapters saying nothing as a filler, every chapter is informative and every page-just like the Sanaya Roman books !
I am going to buy more Denning Phiillips books, but they do not have that good reviews, so we'll see how those compare ! DC

A beginner level,

This review is from: Practical Guide to Creative Visualization: Manifest Your Desires (Paperback)
(This is a review of the book "Practical Guide to Creative Visualization" by Denning & Phillips, paperback, 1983.)
There is quite a bit of fluff in this 211-page book. The "meat" of the book could have been told in about 50 pages, or even less. I would rate this book for beginners only, since you are not going to find much detailed instructions here. There is also some reference to other areas of psychic practices here and there, but again, not very substantial. Some of the ideas and exercises given in this book about visualization seem strange and cumbersome, and I wonder if the authors ever had any success with them (if they even tried them). The book has an annoying characteristic where there is a long build-up in each chapter before you get to the "real" stuff, and then the real stuff itself is only about a paragraph or two long. And it wasn't even worth waiting for it. Very disappointing. You can find much better books on the topic of Creative Visualization that will explain and teach you this practice more efficiently and completely.

Frankly, this book was purchased as a gift to a friends and was promptly forwarded on. I have yet to hear anything positive or negative from her regarding this publication.
I gave it a 5 since I have other books by the same authors and have found them informative. Spirit One |
