5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for both novices and experts, June 14, 2006
This review is from: A Practical Guide to Graphics Reporting: Information Graphics for Print, Web & Broadcast (Paperback)
This book is clean, simple, easy to understand. It's full of examples from daily graphics to large-scale graphics media thrive on. But, best of all, it gets right to the point of explaining why those graphics work. If you're an expert, you should get a copy as a reminder of what to shoot for and help check your work. If you're a student, you need one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Covers the basics graphic reporting well, December 23, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Practical Guide to Graphics Reporting: Information Graphics for Print, Web & Broadcast (Paperback)
This book is actually more suited for beginners although experts might learn a few things too.

It covers all the aspect of creating graphics for news reporting, on how to effectively tell a story on its own or complement the news. There are lessons on using multimedia graphics, doing research, understanding ethics, designing information graphics, creating maps and tables, analyzing statistics.

There are numerous case studies and interviews included to relate back to the real world. The interviews are really useful. There's nothing like learning from the pros.

If you like this book, you should also check out the rare Malofiej series of infographics books. They all contain interviews and tons of infographics examples.

This book is great for the young reporter just getting started and as a reference in the newsroom. I especially recommend it to introductory and intermediate graphics programs at journalism schools everywhere!
