3.0 out of 5 stars Practical Guide to Past-Life Memories
I read the book and was interested -- the author did manage to avoid too many mentions of Edgar Cayce and Shirley MacLaine, both of whom are instant turn-offs for me when the subject of reincarnation come up. However, most of the twelve methods are basically self-hypnosis. I was hoping for a little more than that. It's not a thumbs down but it's not a perfect 10...

I've been teaching past life classes for years. Occasionally, you run across a student that has a "block", they just can't get through to their past. I know it's frustrated me as well as others.

Finally, here's a book that gives you not one, but MANY ways to uncover your past lives. My personal favorite is the tick-tock method that is virtually foolproof and something I have never seen in print before.

Richard Webster's experience truly shines through in this book. If you've ever wondered about past lives and wanted to do it on your own, here's the book.

I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perhaps the best self-help book on regression, October 27, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Practical Guide to Past-Life Memories: Twelve Proven Methods (Practical Guide Series) (Paperback)
I have read many wonderful books on past-life regression for hypnotherapists, and a few self-help books for past-life regression, but if you choose to experiment on your own, this book is your best shot.

Simply put, this is no different than remembering what you did last year, ten years ago, fifteen years ago, and then going backward in time.

Out of many different methods, my favorite is following your emotions. That being said, you may or may not like what you experience using this method. There is another fun book (perhaps my favorite on past-life regression - Mind-Probe Hypnosis by Irene Hickman - while this other book does not deal with methods you'd do on your own, it may give you a good picture on what you may expect to encounter following this particular method - a bunch of unresolved issues from the past. While it may be useful resolving them - it may not be necessarily pleasant experience.

You may also think of something that you have particular affinity for in this life and trace that emotion - experiencing that pleasant emotion you can trace them back to the original experience that gave rise to such emotions. That may be a more pleasant experience.

While the experiments I did with techniques from this book were instantly successful, I can say that the life I have right now is a much happier experience than anything I managed to dig out from the past.

We may entertain romantic ideas about some better past, and some memories may perhaps enrich your present life, but what you are more likely to discover that life and learning moves forward and that whatever you may be experiencing in your life right now may very well be the most wonderful part of your life.

The fact will also remain that you may not exactly be able to prove what you experience to be real. It will feel just as real as a memory from the past, relived in the present moment, and whatever you experience in your emotions as real is bound to feel very real - but the experiences may still leave questions was that really your life or did you pick someone else's life, or just tuned into a vibration from some other time, or is what you are reliving like dreams that you dream during the night that feel real but are composite of information you have truly experienced and the mixture of information that might have come some other way.

For that reason, the greatest benefit that I see in working with past-lives is not proving the validity of information that cannot be proven for certain, but rather in helping you to remove the obstacles from the present. In that respect, the process may be somewhat even like working with Jungian active imagination process - if it helps you to heal wounds from the past, if it helps you to feel better, it's a valuable tool.

While the remembered information may or may not feel completely accurate - even though it will feel as very real - and you may keep in mind the fact that even when you remember something that happened five years ago may already have been somewhat altered in your mind - what you are really working with is emotions, and one of the purposes of he process is to help you release the emotional baggage from the past. Past life regression is not the only method, but it is one of them.

Other purposes may be getting information for the purpose of creative enrichment. If you're a writer, you could get great stories. If you were an archaeologist, perhaps it could help you to dig some treasures from the past.

You could go exploring any past talents, though I happen to believe that any talents you might have had at any point in the past, you'd still have in the present - perhaps even more developed - but that's for you to discover.

Some of the techniques in this book involve dreaming, hypnotic regression (one could say though that all regression involves hypnosis), scrying, dowsing, feeling (in hypnosis this is called using the "affect brdige"), etc.

In any event, if you want to have fun exploring past-lives on your own - this is the book to get.

This review is from: Practical Guide to Past-Life Memories: Twelve Proven Methods (Practical Guide Series) (Paperback)
Many people believe in reincarnation, myself included, but also, many are skeptics. Here is a chance for everyone to understand better those moments of dTja vu. Believers will have an easier time of it, but skeptics may just learn a little something along the way too, if not more so.

Richard Webster is a hypnotherapist and lecturer on many psychic topics. He is the author of over thirty books and is seen in many circles as a guru of the paranormal. In "Past-Life Memories" Richard gives us twelve proven methods of accessing the memories that are hidden in our brains.

By way of explanation of past life memories, the soul is a continuing energy that enters life again and again. We are here to learn lessons and to grow, but are usually without our memories of past lives so that these images do not interfere with what we are here to do. Certainly you may feel compelled to do certain things, such as staying far away from high places; perhaps in a past life you had fallen to your death from a cliff. But you may not understand your current fear of heights. By exploring your past life memories, you may be able to put those fears to rest and live happier in this life.

There are numerous methods of uncovering these memories, from dreaming of your past lives to scrying, hypnotherapy to spirit guide assistance, but since all of us are individuals, one method may work for some while it doesn't for others. Much like finding a comfortable position in which to sleep, you will need to try different things to see what works best for you, hence, Richard's twelve methods.

Mr. Webster has a wonderful voice in his works. He is knowledgeable and respected in his understanding of these topics; authoritative, yet he is gentle and convincing, a true teacher and guiding spirit. If you are interested in learning how to uncover your past life memories, this is the man you will want to learn from. The text is easy to understand and the lessons clearly written. I enjoyed reading the case histories that accompany each method of regression.

For anyone yearning to uncover the meaning behind an irrational fear, looking to see if their soulmate is involved in their current life, or wonders why they are drawn to certain places, this is the book to help you through it.

I just love Richard Webster. His books are very easy to understand. Practical Guide to Past Life Memories is my favorite book on the subject. He gives you twelve different methods to connect to a past life. I just picked one method to start and it worked! The very first time! You can very easily find your method because there is a chapter dedicated to each one. This book is fun and very informative but not so much where you could get bored. Get this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book to discover some of your past lives, March 15, 2004

A long time ago, I read some books about past life regressions. Finally I got this book and read it. But when I discovered at the use of automatic writing, I thought it was too good to be true. Why did Alantis existed during king tut's time? And why I was a priestess that reincarnated into a Crusader inside the middle ages? Even though most of it is not foolproof, I finally got a hold of my past lives. So if you are looking to talk to your spirit guide, this is a book for you if you are looking into your past lives.

4.0 out of 5 stars Past Life Recall Made Easy by This Book, October 7, 2011
This review is from: Practical Guide to Past-Life Memories: Twelve Proven Methods (Practical Guide Series) (Paperback)
Most people go to a psychic or a hypnotherapist for a past life recall. The another-time-another-place-in-another-body memories in your mind may not be as deep as you thought. They come to us in dreams, in "day-dreaming", in feelings in our body... We only need to pay attention and tune into the subtlety of our sensations, thoughts, inner feelings, and relax. Past life recall might be easier than we thought.

Richard Webster's easy reading book offers twelve practical tools that you can DIY with on past-life memory recall. You can pick any one of them and keep practicing, or you can try them all. I recommend the former. It can be for fun as well as insights of your own being. Although they are easy to do, it does require some dedication and patience - It's not only our normal sense of patience of time, but patience of attitude. Remember: stay quiet, stay curious, stay relaxed, with no attachment. When you do it, you only do it for fun.

Here are the twelve methods in a nutshell:

1. Dreaming of your past lives
2. far memory technique
3. Past-life regression
4. Scrying your past lives
5. Tick-tock regression
6. Fascinations, skills and interests
7. Dowsing your past lives
8. Rainbow number meditation
9. Imagination meditation
10. Exploring the Akashic records
11. The feeling technique
12. With the help of your spiritual guides

Keep your curiocity and keep your mind open without any pre-conception, such as "I'm not good at this or that"... You may surprise yourself. After that, if you want more, you can always go to see a professional hypnotherapist for an in-depth past life regression session.

This book is obviously written by a very educated person. He knows what he's talking about and makes it easy to understand. Several of the ideas in here for past life memories I had never even heard of!

I had fun reading the book and it includes several mini stories from people who tried certain methods.

Definately a great book for someone new to regression and perfect for someone (like me) who doesn't want to be hypnotized. <3

I have read many books on this subject. One can always learn something new though-Wonderful techniques for accessing past lives-Something for everyone. If one way doesn't work for you, try another. This is also, a good book for "beginner's." The author does a very good job explaining what hynosis is and is not, laying myths about hypnosis and "fears" to rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scry to me, June 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Practical Guide to Past-Life Memories: Twelve Proven Methods (Practical Guide Series) (Paperback)
Great book! The author presents 12 methods of returning to your past lives without anyone's physical help. This is a solo book. Advice is given on what can be gained delving into past lives. The main reason should be to remove blocks to be able to advance spiritually in one's current sojourn. Other reasons seem valid as well; like unlocking a hidden talent(s). I lightly explored the self hypnosis method by first attempting to remember the earliest memories of my current sojourn and was excited by all of the early memories I thought were lost. Hypnosis to me is like turning your mind's camera to focus its power on a question. For example as I went deeper into a self hypnosis and asked the question, why did I come to this sojourn? I then saw a bicycle sprocket with pedals in motion. For me this is the symbol of a "balance"d chakra or energy wheel. This book was also helpful for explaining the concept of scrying which is also another method of acquiring forgotten past life memories in this sojourn. With the help of the hypnotic regression past life method, I remember as a very young boy being regularly sent to bed at night. Not agreeing with the sentence of being sent to bed due to large amounts of unspent energy, I could not go to sleep. Rather than risk getting into trouble with my parents by getting out of bed, I starred at the shiny black window glazing in my bedroom for long periods of time. This resulted in being able to see color images; like watching the TV. This is a good example of scrying. I have since inadvertently done this with mirrors not knowing what it was I was experiencing. Nostradamus scryd into an ink filled bowl; run thru the author's simple steps and ask the question. Nothing is hidden. This book is very helpful to me.
