This book is a pretty good resource for any P.I., P.I. student, or instructor. As a licensed private detective instructor I found this book to be a nice addition to my library, but a little pricey for the amount of information. There are 3 or 4 other books that could be purchased together for the same money and would cover everything in this book and more. I recommend all my students buy "Idiots Guide to Private Investigation" as a first book.

This book also must be compared to your local state laws. Some of the equipment discussed might be illegal in some states. Also some states require you attend a state certified school as here in Georgia, but some states only require a business license.

No book will make an individual a good private investigator. That requires field training and experience, but I recommend this book for any new investigator who is ready to branch out and start his or her own agency.

Overall an good investment for the professional.

I checked this book out of a library while studying for (and passing) the California Private Investigator examination. I found it to be too general for that purpose. I think this book is probably better in a classroom or other setting where someone can ground the materials in concrete experience.

I'm currently studying to get my PI Intern License and this book is the Must Have reference whether learning the trade or if you are a seasoned professional. The Author knows his business and the information in this manual is priceless and up to date.
