Good reference for residents interested in informatics, January 7, 2010
This review is from: Practical Imaging Informatics: Foundations and Applications for PACS Professionals (Paperback)
As a resident interested in informatics, there has often been a difficulty in finding literature pertaining to informatics. I found this book extremely useful as a reference. It has contributions from respected authors in the field along with a large breadth of coverage from the topics as basic as difference imaging modalities to the fundementals of workflow testing. Definitions of the numerous terms thrown around in informatics (i.e. HL7, DICOM, and IHE) are clearly explained. There is even a section on how to choose the correct furniture for the reading room. While some parts of the book are definitely geared towards PACS adminitrators, the book provides a good framework in understanding how information flows in a radiology enviroment. A solid reference for anyone with a interest in informatics.
