"Practical Jack's CheckList for Y2K" is a contingency planning tool, divided into two sections: 1) a very detailed and comprehensive CHECKLIST of action items and purchase items; and 2) robust collection of suggestions (CONSIDERATIONS) about planning, buying, storing, conservation, and safety. It is an "electronic book", which means you run it on your computer. The CONSIDERATIONS section is in HTML, easily navigable by any standard browser. The CHECKLIST section is in generic spreadsheet format, useful in popular spreadsheet programs, easily modifiable to fit your particular circumstances. The electronic format puts you much closer to full Y2K preparedness than merely reading a paper book and then having to build from scratch lists of things to do and buy.
The author's style is practical and succinct. The content is targeted toward the millions of families who DON'T plan to move to a remote location, arm themselves, plant huge gardens, and raise livestock; but who DO plan to make practical preparations for a one-month to one-year series of economic disruptions.
The book is NOT a marketing tool for a line of "survival products".
