4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference, June 23, 2010
This review is from: Practical MR Physics (Paperback)
Practical MR Physics is an excellent addition to any department's library. The physics of MR are addressed in clear concise terms and presented in an understandable format. What really sets this text apart is the authors approach to imaging artifacts. Through real world case presentations, the readers are educated about the artifacts encountered, their underlying causation, and methods for elimination. I have added this book to my recommended reading list for MRI Students, and also recommend it as a valuable resource for practicing technologists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very High Yield Text, March 18, 2011
This review is from: Practical MR Physics (Paperback)
I am an attending Neuroradiologist at the University of Arizona, and I love this book. It is a gift to anyone in practice or in training who reads MRI! The majority of the book is case based with many examples of MRI artifacts and pitfalls, with numerous pictures and succinct text that really drive home the main point of each case. This format really makes the book standout from any other MRI text, which is usually drawn out and a difficult read. The book also covers the basics of MRI physics in a quick 40 pages, and relates the information in a very easy to understand way. If you are looking for a rapid way to improve your MRI reads, get the book! It's great for anyone from resident to attending, in private practice or academics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical MR Physics, September 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A wise colleage once told me, "always keep in mind three important facts about any medical topic you'll always remember". Sounds simple yet as I've come to find out, its not so easy to accomplish this task if one's reference textbook is wrtten in an intricate manner or is not so succinct. It's with the above in mind that i decide which textbooks to purchase. Given the intricacies of the subject of MR imaging, "Practical MR Physics" manages to simplify many key points in generating MR images and provides the reader with easily understood facts and concepts. There are noteworthy facts about types of MR scanners, how various imaging sequences are generated and time cost. Intermixed with the meat of bare MR physics are some very interesting historic facts that make for interesting read and very good conversation pieces. The author even brings the reader into the 21st century by providing links to YouTube and other websites for practical demonstrations on certain MR physics concepts that may be difficult to grasp initially. With this book the task of generating lists of facts to remember about MR physics is indeed simplified. It's a text for everyone who desires to know more about the the subject of MR imaging. In all this is a wise purchase; " more bang for your buck" so to speak.
