This is a required text for a class I am taking, but I have found it to be a poorly updated 9th Edition of a book. The first chapter gives such basic information about email, computers and the internet, that you would think the internet was just invented. Shame on the author and publishers for selling a book originally published in 1993 with very little work put in to making it relevant and current in its 9th Edition. For any aspiring or out of work authors, perhaps here is an opportunity to write your own book with a little more effort, which can be much more useful for today.

This is a required text for my research methodology class, so I bought the Kindle version of the book. Unfortunately, there are no page numbers (like the text) on the Kindle version, which is a problem when my professor assigns specific pages to read. Amazon needs to warn its customers of this missing feature.

The authors, Paul D. Leedy and Jeanne Ellis Ormrod, made this book an easy read with plenty of basic concepts and strategies for basic research methodology. I found it extremely helpful in understanding the research process for any research project. I highly recommend this book for any undergraduate or graduate student who are being introduced to research methodology for the first time, or to the students who need to refresh their memory on how to do practical research.

Ordered this book for my graduate class. Very difficult class and this book helped some. I found several of the chapters impossible to understand and needed much more clarification. Did end up with an A in the class!

I'm taking a Research course for my Masters program and this is the text we're using. I haven't gotten far into it yet, but it's been decent so far. It does cover fairly obvious things (such as how to use the internet and email). For me, however, it's been a refresher on some of the basics of researching (such as tools and methodology) that I learned in undergrad courses and had forgotten. It's also included information and tips on how to become an effective researcher.

Excellent book for design researchers; offers step-by-step and in deep orientations for research planning and developing. It is also of very good help in preparing classes of research methodology disciplines for post graduate courses related to design.

I found this book to be very practical, well written, easy to read and understand. I do agree with the other reviewers who said that some of the language in the book (regarding technology, word processors and email) is a little outdated. However, the book is about basic research methods and design, not about using technology to conduct research. This book will tell you how to organize your research project step by step, and how to format your proposals.

This is the book we are using for our research class and I have found it to be very informative. The sections are broken down which makes it very easy to look for specific subjects. The writing itself is a very easy read, not like most text books but keep in mind, it is a text book.
