Be among the first to take advantage of a bold new generation of software engineering tools—Now available to readers by e-mail, free of charge!

Over the past few years, researchers working at Bell Labs have developed a set of powerful new tools and software libraries that significantly streamline the job of software development by enhancing software reuse. This one-of-a-kind practical guide supplies you with all of those cutting-edge software engineering tools and libraries, and the all-star AT&T team that invented them shows you how to make full use of them in your own development projects. While some of them are still in prototype, all the tools and libraries described are ready to use and can easily be integrated into your work routine today.

Tools and libraries available by e-mail, free of charge, exclusively to purchasers of this book.

  • Written and edited by some of the brightest lights in software development today, including Glen Fowler, David Korn, David Rosenblum, Steven North, Y. Huang, and others.
  • Describes a wide array of libraries, base tools, stand alone tools, and connected systems.
  • Focuses on the four main categories of software architecture, reverse engineering, visualization, and process.
  • Extremely practical—throughout the emphasis is on software reusability and the connectivity and "openness" of the tools.

This review is from: Practical Reusable UNIX Software (Paperback)
Quite simply, an excellent book. It should be required reading for any Unix programmer. Not only are the tools insightful and powerful but the thought-processes, design decisions, and implementations are carefully discussed.
There is a lot to learn for everyone. Now if AT&T would just take the tools GPL/LGPL for everyone to enjoy...
