4.0 out of 5 stars A very good, no-nonsense Thai cookbook
This book doesn't have the gloss of some other Thai cookbooks, such as Keo's, but it has a good number of well-explained, tasty recipes. It isn't big on substitutions for hard-to-find Thai ingredients, which may be its biggest drawback for beginning cooks. Still, I recommend it highly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find ingredients
I have actually only made one recipe from this book and it was great. The issue that I discovered is that several of the dishes that I would like to try out have ingredients that are hard to find in my area. One addition that I would have appreciated was a chart with substitutions for those ingredients.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Thai Cookbook, May 31, 2011
This review is from: Practical Thai Cooking (Paperback)
I bought this book in 1985. I also have 5 other Thai cookbooks in my collection. However, this is the one I use most often. The recipes are easy to follow. And most importantly, the food tastes Great. What else can I say except if you were to buy a Thai cookbook, this is the ONE to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some of the best dishes I've ever made came from this book, December 31, 2010
This review is from: Practical Thai Cooking (Paperback)
I love to cook. This book has some really great dishes. My favorite is the chicken with shitake mushrooms in coconut milk over sticky rice. Another great one is beef with red curry and bamboo shoots and another is a fried pork chop with white pepper and coriander. This is my second time purchasing this book. My first one was covered with 20 years of bits of this recipe and that. Great book for sure and it's a classic.
