About the Author

Alan Rickayzen is the WebFlow Product Manager. He has been with SAP since 1992 and in data processing since 1988. In 1995 he joined the SAP Business Workflow group performing development work as well as consulting for various major US customers. During this time he amassed a good technical knowledge of the product before moving in 1998 to workflow product management. He is the principal liaison for the SAP workflow user groups through which he has a good insight into the project factors and WebFlow features that make a customer implementation a success. He writes regularly for SAP Insider and other journals. Alan Rickayzen graduated from Kings College, London with a BSc in physics.

Jocelyn Dart is a Senior Product Consultant specializing in Enterprise Buyer Professional (EBP) and Workflow. She has been involved with SAP products since 1990, and has been in data processing far longer than she wants to admit. In 1994, she joined SAP Australia as a help desk support consultant. Later she became an SAP instructor giving courses in ABAP, Internet Transaction Server, Workflow and EBP. Explaining and demonstrating workflow to students, and generally tinkering around, has given her a unique appreciation of the breadth and depth of the WebFlow Engine. She is currently in Professional Services, performing development work at and advising various major Australian and New Zealand customers. She is acknowledged as a regional expert in both Workflow and EBP development, and is frequently called upon to assist international consultants with EBP and Workflow issues. Jocelyn Dart has a B.App.Sc.(Computing Science) from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Dr. Carsten Brennecke has been involved in Workflow Management since 1995. In 1998 he joined SAP AG to work in workflow development. Carsten Brennecke is responsible for workflow documentation and he is directly involved in the planning and development of the WebFlow Engine. In addition, he takes an active role in the development WebFlow training and on occasion delivers training courses himself.

Markus Schneider has an MA in linguistics from Aachen Technical University. During this course he developed a new training and documentation concept for a local IT company. Markus Schneider joined SAP AG in 1998 to develop documentation and training material for SAP workflow. He is now in the WebFlow Engine development team and has a deep understanding of the underlying architecture.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential read!, October 31, 2002

I am a functional consultant who has a techie leaning and did the WF Academy 2.5 years ago and have fuddled along since then.

Never truly understood the subject. This book has been a revelation and I now know exactly what is going on. Plus it's all put together in a highly readable, easy-to-understand format.

Would seriously recommend it for anyone working currently with the product, or anyone considering a move into this area.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good starter book, not enough programming, September 16, 2005

This is a good book for the basics of workflow. It is also ok for functional analysts. However, it kind of leaves you hanging if you're a programmer. There is a lot of 'What', but not enough 'How' or 'Why'. If you're trying to build a workflow that does not have a specific example of the workflow step you have, you will know what I'm talking about.

Good luck,

5.0 out of 5 stars This book worth till last penny spent on it., March 25, 2003

You know, from time to time somebody decices to release certain valuable information. This is the case. I was really skeptic about this book after some dissapointing purchases. After 20 min with the book I realized this is it!. This book is well structured and if you are familiar with SAP you can follow the explanations without need of actually login into SAP.
